Halloween is just around the corner. And nothing brings the spirit of spooky season quite like zombies, werewolves, campy 1980s slasher films, and, of course, vampires! Sadly, this Halloween will be a little absent of something that’s become a staple in the last couple of years. Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 won’t arrive in time, but don’t lose all hope because we finally have an airdate.
In addition, Konami recently announced and released the Castlevania: Dominus Collection for modern consoles. The new collection features every game released first for the Nintendo DS. Titles include Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Dawn of Sorrow, and Order of Ecclesia. For a change of pace, we can finally revisit the last era of castle-crawling before the series switched to a 3D action/puzzle style like Prince of Persia or God of War. And more, these are some of the only games about people outside the Belmont clan.
With the re-release of old titles, there should have been more to come soon, right? We’re in luck. The second season of Castlevania: Nocturne will arrive on Netflix in January 2025. It’s not quite the release period we thought, but it’ll be great to kick off the new year with a new season.
Castlevania: Nocturne Season 1 Recap
Erzsébet Báthory awoke to become the Vampire Messiah. Richter, Anette, and Maria escaped death by the skin of their teeth. Mizrak’s last appearance showed him charging into the fray after denouncing Orlox as a monster. And Alucard arrived just in time to be too late to stop anything.
Season 1 left viewers like me in a tight spot: Caught between wanting to see more because it’s one of my favorite franchises and wishing the whole series was canceled because it disappointed me. With that said, I’m ready to watch Season 2 with a more hopeful outlook that the series has improved.
Do you plan to watch the continuation of Castlevania: Nocturne? Did you know what Koji Igarashi did before he created Castlevania: Symphony of the Night? He was a scenario writer and programmer for Tokimeki Memorial, one of Japan’s most famous dating simulators and visual novels. We’ve got some Nendoroids from the franchise for preorder right now!
