The last time we talked about this series was back in late February of this year, and the only information we had at the time was that the isekai light novel series By the Grace of the Gods (Kamitachi ni Hirowareta Otoko), will get a television anime adaptation. Well, we’re back at it, this time with the first promotional video and primary cast and staff details!

Now that we’ve established that much, let’s talk details! By the Grace of the Gods will premiere in the fall of 2020 as a Funimation co-production. Featuring animation produced by the relatively new studio Maho Films (If It’s for My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord), the director will be Takeyuki Yanase (Himegoto and If It’s for My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord) and feature series composition by Kazeyuki Fudeyasu. Azusa Tadokoro will perform in the starring role of Ryoma.
Created by author Roy, the series was initially published on the website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2015, before the series was compiled and put into print by Hobby Japan with illustrations from Ririnra in 2017. They released the eighth volume to store shelves on Saturday, February 22nd. The manga adaptation will reach the fifth volume on April 22nd, 2020.
By the Grace of the Gods is being published in English digitally by J-Novel Club, who describes the story as:
Under the protection of the gods, a relaxed life with slimes in another world begins! One day, the life of middle-aged Japanese businessman Ryoma Takebayashi came to a rather sudden and disappointing end.
