I’ve never been particularly physically active and being stuck at home in quarantine has only compounded that problem. It’s not that I don’t see the importance of working out and keeping my body healthy, I just find it really boring to do. Luckily, Japan hears those complaints from myself and others and aims to do something about it with the help of a certain iconic magical girl pop idol.
Three brand new workout videos have been posted to YouTube to help everyone stay fit from the comfort of their own homes, starring the 80s legend, Creamy Mami who starred in the series Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel from July 1983 to June 1984.
They set the first video to the ending theme from the television series titled “Pajama no mama de” which features Mami doing a bunch of warm-up stretches before the actual workout begins.
Now that we’re all warmed up, let’s get started with this video in the Creamy Exercises (yes, that’s what they’re calling them) aimed at beginners and featuring the opening song “Delicate ni Suki Shite.”
All right, now that we’ve got our blood pumping a bit, let’s try something a bit more difficult with the intermediate leveled “Love Sarigenaku.” Get ready to break a sweat with this one!
For those of you who are wondering, the CG remake was created by virtual modeling company Gugenka, in association with Creamy Mami’s original production studio Pierrot. It’s even been given the official seal of approval from the creator of the manga, Akemi Takada, who praised the character’s movements and the attention to detail. If that weren’t enough, the original voice actress, Takako Ota, reprised her role for these videos (though she didn’t provide the moves).
If you’ve been looking for a fun new way to burn some calories magical girl aerobics isn’t the worst idea we’ve heard today!
