During their panel at Anime Expo on Saturday, July 3rd, Crunchyroll let loose a series of announcements that will appeal to just about everyone in one way or another. Everything from the second season of a beloved cooking iyashikei to a father/daughter mecha action series were revealed as coming to the streaming platform, soon. We’re going to go through them, one by one!
The host for the pre-recorded panel was Tim Lyu, who spoke at a very fast pace (which is understandable since he was dishing out as much information about their products as possible in a very limited amount of time). Once we got past the sizzle reel and promotional videos for their summer lineup, we got to five new announcements for the series which will premiere somewhere between October 2021 and January 2022.
Starting things off, the following series will premiere on Crunchyroll in October 2021: Restaurant to Another World Season 2, Sakugan, The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window, and The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat. Meanwhile, the series In the Land of Leadale will premiere on the site in January 2022. Lastly, Orient will be uploaded to the site at a date that has yet to be decided.
While Restaurant to Another World Season 2 was kind of an expected announcement, the other four look like solid acquisitions for Crunchyroll. In particular, I think fans might want to start paying attention to The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat and In the Land of Leadale now to avoid the rush later.
The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat premieres in October and the promotional video shown during the panel managed to capture my attention for the 90 seconds it was on my screen. Honestly, with how much information Crunchyroll was squeezing into this panel — including random summer lineup promos, plugs for their merchandise store, and their own upcoming convention, Crunchyroll Expo — it’s nice that at least one series stuck out from the onslaught of information provided.
Overall a good panel from Crunchyroll; well-produced and informative if not a little too busy.
