With summer convention season in full swing, adaptation announcements are coming in daily. That means it’s time for another round-up of announcements.
Anime
- Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt: It’s unclear if this title will be a remake, sequel, or entirely new story, so it’s getting categorized here. At Anime Expo, the beloved animation studio Trigger revealed a new Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt anime. Although it’s unclear what form the story will take, the studio confirmed Hiroyuki Imaishi as the director and scripts written by Imaishi and Hiromi Wakabayashi. (Anime News Network)
Light Novels to Anime
- Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra: The first of our list of light novel titles being adapted to anime is Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra: World Conquest Begins with the Civilization of Ruin (Japanese title: Isekai Mokushiroku Mynoghra: Hametsu no Bunmei de Hajimeru Sekai Seifuku). No premiere date has been set, but look for more details as they become available. (Eiga)
- Once Upon a Witch’s Death: The fantasy novel series Once Upon a Witch’s Death is headed for television screens in 2025. Based on the award-winning book series written by Saka and illustrated by Chorefuji, EMT Squared will produce the TV series and star Yoshino Aoyama and Yoshiko Sakakibara in the lead roles. - Teogonia: Keeping the trend going, we have a third fantasy light novel series headed for television in 2025. Titled Teogonia, the series is licensed in English by J-Novel Club who describes the story as:
In the harsh region known as the borderlands, humans must fight an endless battle against demi-human creatures that come at them relentlessly, intent on taking their land and their gods. A young boy named Kai, fighting to defend his village, sustains a life-threatening injury that causes him to regain memories from a past life. Kai’s newfound knowledge gives him a new sense of the unfair “rule set” that governs the world around him. One thing is clear: For those without a god to serve as their guardian, life is a constant struggle for survival.

Manga Titles to Anime
- Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You: Yay for more shoujo coming our way! Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You (Japanese title: Dōse, Koishite Shimaunda) is based on the manga series created by Haruka Mitsui. It’s set to air in January 2025. The series is about a high school sophomore who wants to grow up to become a manga artist but has little life experience to draw from. (Comic Natalie)
- The Three Mikadono Sisters Are Surprisingly Easy: Keeping things balanced for our anime adaptations, Weekly Shonen Sunday revealed plans to create an anime for the series The Three Mikadono Sisters Are Surprisingly Easy (Japanese title: Mikadono Sanshimai wa Angai, Choroi). No details were revealed for the upcoming romantic comedy anime. (Anime Eiga)
- Good Morning, Mr. Poop: Sticking with comedy titles, the next manga announced for a small-screen animated adaptation is Good Morning, Mr. Poop (Japanese title: Ohayō! Unko-sensei). No details about the anime were revealed, but if you’re curious about the source material it’s a gag manga that focuses on Mr. Poop, a character from a series of textbooks aimed at helping children learn kanji. - Witch Hat Atelier: Another beloved title headed for a TV anime adaptation in 2025 is Witch Hat Atelier. Serialized since 2016 in Morning Two magazine, the anime adaptation is to be produced by Bug Films and directed by Ayumu Watanabe. (Comic Natalie)
- Übel Blatt: I’m shocked that it has taken this long for me to type that manga series Übel Blatt is getting an anime adaptation — especially since it ran from 2004 to 2019 — but here I am. Studio Satelight will produce the animation, which is set to air in 2025. (Comic Natalie)
Manga Titles to Live-Action
- Is A Family Like This Worth Keeping?: Getting away from comedy and fantasy to take us to the darkness of modern times, a live-action series will launch on Japanese television starting July 18th for the manga series Is A Family Like This Worth Keeping? (Japanese title: Sonna Kazoku nara Sutechaeba?). (Comic Natalie)
- Mr. Yano’s Ordinary Days: On the other side of the emotional spectrum, we also have a live-action adaptation announcement for the comedy manga Mr. Yano’s Ordinary Days (Japanese title: Yano-kun no Futsū no Hibi). Starring Yagi Yusei from FANTASTICS, the movie will hit Japanese theaters on November 15th and features a story about an incredibly unlucky high school guy and his friends. (Anime Eiga)
Manga Titles to Stage
- Science Fell In Love, So I Tried to Prove It: Comedy manga Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It is headed for a live theater production in Tokyo this September. (Comic Natalie)
Original Titles to Anime
- Untitled Magical Girl Project: Studio Pierrot has revealed plans to create a brand new, original magical girl anime. We don’t have any firm details regarding the title yet. However, there is this nice promotional video. (Anime Eiga)
- Classic Stars: A TV anime is in the works based on the mixed media project Classic Stars, which launched in 2018. It features classical music artists from history reimagined as hot modern bishounen. Set to air in 2025, the animated project will star Yuuma Uchida, Kento Ito, Shun Abe, and Shoya Ishige in the lead roles. (Anime Eiga)
- Grotesque: The director of Darling in the Franxx and The Idolm@ster, Atsushi Nishogori, has an interesting new project at studio Cloverworks set to premiere in 2025. Titled Grotesque, the only details about the anime were revealed within a short promotional video at Anime Expo. (Yaraon, Anime News Network)
- Untitled Project: Famed director Shoji Kawamori mentioned at Anime Expo that he is working on a new original animated movie. It will premiere in 2025. (Anime News Network)
Remakes
- Rose of Versailles: A couple of huge titles were announced within the last week after my previous article. That said… studio MAPPA is breaking out the big guns by announcing plans to remake the classic shoujo title The Rose of Versailles into a movie starring Miyuki Sawashiro as Oscar. The remake will hit theaters in 2025. (Anime Eiga)
- Magic Knight Rayearth: A 30th-anniversary remake has been revealed for the classic CLAMP series Magic Knight Rayearth. Based on the manga which ran from 1993 to 1995, the original anime aired from 1994 to 1995 with animation produced by Tokyo Movie (which became TMS Entertainment). (AnimeAnime.jp)
Sequels
- The Irregular at Magic High School: Can you believe that The Irregular at Magic High School anime is still going strong? Here’s your reminder, because the Yotsuba Succession arc will be animated as a movie. (Yaraon)
- Kaiju No. 8: The popular spring 2024 anime Kaiju No. 8 revealed during its season finale that it will return for a second season. (Gigazine)
- Go! Go! Loser Ranger!: Another popular spring 2024 anime that puts a fun spin on the Super Sentai genre, Go! Go! Loser Ranger! revealed that it will be returning for a second season in 2025. (Anime Eiga)
- Mushoku Tensei: For fans of the popular isekai, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, we have the good news that it will return for a third season. (Comic Natalie)
- Beastars: The final season of Beastars will appear on Netflix starting in December 2024. The new season will be released in two parts. (X)
- Blue Exorcist: Finally, we come to the shounen series that could, Blue Exorcist, which has revealed it will return for another season starting in January 2025. Even more exciting is the reveal that the new season will run for two straight cours. (Comic Natalie)
Visual Novels to Anime
- Summer Pockets: Ooh boy, get ready to cry! Studio Feel will produce Summer Pockets, another TV anime adaptation of a Key visual novel. Released in 2018, this title features a story by Jun Maeda (Clannad, Angel Beats, Charlotte). (Comic Natalie)
Video Games
- Sword Art Online: While it’s not shocking to hear that Sword Art Online is getting yet another video game this October (this one titled Fractured Daydream). However, it is surprising that this co-op game will support up to 20 players. (Esuteru)
- Attack on Titan: Virtual reality players will want to pay attention, particularly if you’re also a fan of Attack on Titan. A brand new VR game titled Unbreakable will be available via early access on July 24th. You can see footage of the gameplay below. (Esuteru)
- Bleach: Closing things out this time, we have a new video game for the Bleach franchise titled Rebirth of Souls. The studio released a promotional video, but the video is region-locked to Japan. (Esuteru)
