After a four-year publication run, the supernatural comedy light novel, A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics, announced its conclusion. The light novel’s recently released ninth volume announced that its following release would be its last.

A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics Details
Yomi Hirasaka writes the Henjin no Salad Bowl. The light novel features art by one of J-List’s favorite illustrators, Kantoku!
Shogakukan’s Gagaga Bunko imprint began publishing A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics in October 2021. Gagaga Bunko has released nine novels as of December 18. Sundry Webry released a manga adaptation of the light novel with illustrations by Kotaro Yamada. Monthly Sunday GX also serialized the manga from November 2024. The manga debuted in September 2022 and ran until December 2024.
SynergySP and Studio Comet animated the Henjin no Salad Bowl anime. It aired during the Spring 2024 anime season, and the show is streaming on Crunchyroll.
A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics isn’t the first time Hirasaka-sensei and Kantoku collaborated on a light novel. From March 2015 to February 2020, the duo worked on the pervy A Sister’s All You Need slice-of-life (light novel).

Synopsis
Ever since Sosuke Kaburaya became a detective, he’s had a mundane time. Instead of the doki-doki cases he imagined, the 29-year-old detective works unremarkable cases for little pay. But it’s those dead-end jobs that introduce absurdity into his life, one day. While working on a stultifying case, an interdimensional portal opens over him and drops the magical loli and former princess Sara da Odin onto him. While Sosuke initially doubts Sara’s story, all of his doubts disappear when she heals him and uses explosion magic.
With nowhere for Sara to go and panicked by what he saw her do, Sosuke shelters her for the night. That little act of kindness leads to him becoming Sara’s adoptive parent and Sara becoming his assistant!
