Some isekai protagonists can never catch a break, can they? Our current protagonists ruled over a future Earth and suffered greatly to achieve some measure of peace. Though his storied life came to an abrupt and lonely ending, he would begin a new story under a new name. We’ll see if he finds peace and happiness in his second life when The Beginning After the End (Saikyou no Ousama, Nidome no Jinsei wa Nani wo Suru?) returns sometime in April 2026.
TurtleMe and Fuyuki23 released the original The Beginning After the End web novel on July 7th, 2018. Tapas has since published seven volumes.
The Beginning After the End Cast
The reborn king and two of his new comrades are as follows:
- Arthur Leywin / Grey — Natsumi Fujiwara (Damian Desmond in Spy x Family). The king’s reincarnation is the son of two former adventurers.
- Jasmine Flamesworth — Chiaki Omigawa (Paul Bunyan from Fate/Grand Order). Arthur’s mentor is a master of the wind element.
- Tessia Eralith / Cecilia — Kana Ichinose (Suletta Mercury from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury). An elf girl Arthur saved from slavers.

The Legend Written, The Beginning After the End
Grey stood at the top of his country, a futuristic version of Earth. He was a peerless warrior who commanded authority and spent a lifetime establishing peace and stability. Despite it all, he felt the burden of numerous regrets. Grey suffered many hardships on his way to taking the throne, including uncovering a treacherous plot by someone he considered a mentor. He thought of these regrets and the many people who would celebrate his death as he closed his eyes one last time.
Grey was surprised to be reborn in another world. However, he quickly took to his new surroundings. His new parents were kind and loving, and he looked forward to living a life of peace away from his former regrets. Grey — now Arthur Leywin — now wields his new magic power to become a great adventurer like his parents before him. However, his previous life won’t let him go so easily. The circumstances behind his death will certainly impact his new life.
