This week, Square-Enix launched a teaser website celebrating NieR’s 10th anniversary. Twenty-four hours later, as part of what is the first of hopefully many celebrations, Square-Enix has announced NieR: Theatrical Orchestra 12020. Five very special 10th-anniversary orchestra shows will be happening next spring. Three will be held in Tokyo (one on March 28th and two on the 29th) and two in Osaka (both on April 25th).
Immediately, all five ticket lotteries have begun, each offering two seating options. S-tier seating is priced at 10,780 yen, while A-tier seating will be 8,580 yen. Entries will conclude after December 16th. Ticket winners will be announced on December 19th. Lottery entries can be made via the Square-Enix JP E-Store.
Details from the event’s website mention that an assortment of songs from all three NieR games have been selected for a special performance. Voice actors and guests vocalists from each game were also announced to be present in part at each show. Said guests include:
- Keiichi Okabe – Series Composer
- Koji Yusa – NieR Replicant (Nier)
- Ai Nonaka – NieR Replicant (Yonah)
- Yui Ishikawa – NieR Automata (2B)
- Natsuki Hanae – NieR Automata (9S)
- Hiroki Yasumoto – NieR Automata (Pod 042)
- Akiyama Kaoru – NieR Automata (Pod 153)*
- Kadowaki Mai – NieR Series (Emil)**
- Emi Evans – Weight of the World (French Version)
- J’Nique Nicole – Weight of the World (English Version)
- Takeshi Oi – Director
*Tokyo only.
**Osaka only.
If you aren’t in Japan, or unable to travel, fear not! These are five of twelve shows in total set to happen next year. Other NieR shows previously announced include Chicago (January 24th and 25th), Los Angeles (January 29th), London (two shows on February 2nd), and Bankok (February 15th and 16th). Further details of these previously announced shows can be found on a dedicated website.
No further announcements have been made, but given Square-Enix’s pattern, fans can keep their fingers crossed for something even bigger, just around the corner. Just as they did with Kingdom Hearts III: ReMind DLC during the World of Tres Tour, hopefully, there will be more than just music to be heard at the Neir: Theatrical Orchestra 12020 performances.
Glory to mankind! What songs are you hoping they perform?
