Gojou and Marin attend a cosplay event, meeting people, making friends, and learning things about each other.
Episode 5 – “It’s Probably Because This Is the Best Boob Bag Here”
Hmm.
My Dress-Up Darling picks up from where the episode ended last week. Marin put on Gojou’s Shizuku-tan costume and was ecstatic about how much she looked like the character she fell in love with. Her first modeling attempts show that she needs to learn things too. Both Gojou and Marin are cosplaying for the first time. So, this is understandable. We saw how much Gojou went through to use his sewing skills differently. Now we need to see Marin gain experience as a cosplayer. There’s much more to it than putting on a well-made dress and smiling for the camera.
Marin continues to be a lovable goofball. She’s a gorgeous girl with a knockout body, but she’s hilariously unguarded with Gojou. I laughed when Marin couldn’t break her habit of posing like a gal for a smartphone camera. She eventually found a method of getting into character for Gojou’s impromptu photoshoot. My Dress-Up Darling honors the technical aspects of cosplaying, especially the teamwork between a dressmaker and the model. Marin had a head start in becoming a Shizuku-tan superfan, but Gojou quickly caught up. He recognized the faces and feelings beneath Marin’s poses like the one Shizuku-tan made when she first… did something to the player in the Slippery Girls game. When will Marin make a face like that for him? The scene at the end of the show points to sooner than later!
Heh.
Continuing from last week, Marin put on the Shizuku-tan dress, and she “can’t even.” I “can’t even” with how Marin tests out the essential parts of the bodice! Look at how My Dress-Up Darling pays attention to details. Marin notes that moving around is difficult. Gojou makes clothes for Hina dolls, so they don’t shift positions. He’s learning how making dresses for people has more things to consider. Marin is so happy about the dress! She needs pics!
Hahaha! Marin takes too many selfies and snaps with her gal friends. She can’t break out of the goofy smile habit! Gojou settled her down. Now she got it. Gojou even recognized which facial expressions fit which “scenes” in the game. What? I’m shocked that Marin doesn’t have a social media account. I hope there isn’t a stalker plot because she used her real name on the account. Oops. Marin got the photoshoot bug now. Will My Dress-Up Darling let Gojou sleep before attending the cosplay event with Marin? Oh. It’s tomorrow. Still, the boy needs rest!
Yay! Marin loves seeing so many people wearing costumes. Gojou, on the other hand, doesn’t like crowds. Also, he’s paranoid. No, he’s not! Everyone is looking at Marin and Gojou. The dude feels out of place in his casual clothes. Marin says it’s okay because that’s his style. Besides, the other cosplayers are looking at her incredible rack. She has the best boob bag there! There’s the episode title for My Dress-Up Darling. Please keep shaking that boob bag, Marin.
Oh good. The venue has a quieter plaza. There’s another cosplayer with an incredible boob bag. What kind of story does naughty nurse “Vanessa-sama” come from? Neat! Marin’s first photo request came from a fan of Slippery Girls. Gojou does the reminiscing montage. There are a lot of these in My Dress-Up Darling. Is it filling time or reliving the best fanservice moments? Gojou thinks his time with Marin is over after today. He finished the job for the customer, right? I suspect Marin has other ideas.
Ooh. Marin is looking for Gojou. She needs his help because she’s about to burst through her dress! Marin padded her bra to match Shizuku-tan’s proportions, but Gojou designed the boob bag for Marin’s perfect measurements. She’s hot, sweaty, and about to fall out of her top! Time to cool down. Gojou realized he used heavy fabric to match the outfit in the game, but he needed to think about the model standing outdoors in the sun. Dress-up darlings are more complicated than shelf-sized bisque dolls.
Marin is ready to serve sake from her chest… I looked up this cleavage-enhancing product, so you need to see it too. Gojou gets to hear Marin’s bedroom voice. He also doesn’t want her flapping her skirt so openly. My Dress-Up Darling shows us more details about the cosplay scene. More like how it hides those details. Marin will stay decent if she stops doubling down on her NuBras. Ohoho! Marin pays attention to detail too. She marked up her thighs with tic marks from the game. What did Shizuku-tan do seventeen times? Or what did others do to her?
Epilogue time for My Dress-Up Darling. At least, that’s what Gojou thought. Marin has fifty more number-one favorite characters to cosplay! This cosplay team has more work to do. Whoa! Gojou called Marin beautiful. Better yet, she understood how big a deal that was! She’s joining the same place in Gojou’s heart that belongs to his favorite doll head. But will Gojou remember saying that significant word? Such a fitting cliffhanger to an enjoyable first project together. I wonder if Marin will start feeling shy around Gojou until they start working on her next costume.
My Dress-Up Darling (Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru) streams on Crunchyroll, VRV, and Funimation in Japanese with English subtitles and English language dubbing.
