Senpai overhears Nagatoro’s and her friends’ girl talk. At the school marathon, Nagatoro gets competitive with the art club president.
Episode 3 – “Senpai… Were You… Listening to What I Said…?”
Hmm.
Nagatoro’s classmates had eyes on their faces, so will Senpai know them better too? This Miss Nagatoro episode had the debut of two new characters, Orihara and Anetoro! They got the eyeball treatment from Senpai, which makes me think of an easy explanation for why. It’s about eye contact. Look at the first episode of the first season, and you’ll see that Nagatoro and her friends had the same background characteristic of no eyes. The mousy, bullied Senpai developed the bad habit of never talking to strangers’ faces. He kept his eye downcast and his voice barely a whisper. But look at the progress he made! Senpai talked to Orihara, someone he had never met, in the hallway in a confident manner. And he was already nervous being on the first-year floor, surrounded by strangers. I love seeing the character development in Miss Nagatoro!
Senpai is also raising his fitness levels. Developing confidence in mind and body. Look at what the attention of a beautiful young lady will do for a young man’s motivation. Senpai claims he’s only training so he can keep up with Nagatoro to avoid her teasing him. That turned out not to have been true because Nagatoro, and her friends, have accepted Senpai as one of their own. The mousy boy needs to take their rough affection in the spirit to which they offer it. Did you see any other boys carried around by hot gyarus? That is objective proof of their regard for Senpai.
Heh.
Nagatoro is like Senpai’s capricious cat in Miss Nagatoro. Napping, basking in Senpai’s warm light. Something like that! Nagatoro did call the art club room her second home. Oh, today is girl-talk day, not toying-with-Senpai day. Ack! She left her phone. Now what, Senpai?
Good for Senpai. He’s returning Nagatoro’s phone. Isn’t this school meant to be coed? Why are there only first-year girls in the hallways and classrooms? Uh oh. Which is her homeroom class? Don’t know. Hey, this first-year girl has eyes! We know she’s Orihara from the Miss Nagatoro website. What’s Nagatoro’s first name? Senpai doesn’t know! Senpai realized he didn’t know anything about Nagatoro. At least he remembered the “friends” calling her “Hayacchi.” The random first-year girl also knows Nagatoro as “Hayacchi.” They must have known each other before high school. Oh. There are some boys in this classroom. Aw. Senpai is still scared of Gamo and Yosshii. And he’s more frightened of Sakura! Hilarious. He calls the Nagatoro Family “friends” in English.
Oh? Sakura brings more gyaru friends with her. Senpai is in trouble. He hid in the broom locker! And there’s Nagatoro! How can Senpai get out of this sticky situation? Random. Nagatoro is proud of her tomato juice. Yup. This is gyaru girl-talk. One of them got a boyfriend! Crunchyroll is “sus” with its translation. The “chad guy” is a “hot basketball club player,” but the translator didn’t add that. Sakura doesn’t have a type. She’ll catch any ball! She even went on a date with Senpai! Here we go. What is Nagatoro’s type? Senpai doesn’t want to listen to this. Cute, soft smile. Nagatoro likes a guy she can hang out with. There’s only one of those in Miss Nagatoro! Here, have a quick montage of Nagatoro hanging out with Senpai. Her gyaru friends call this “normal.”
Oh, finally. Nagatoro realized her phone was missing. The gyarus tease her about where she might have left it. The art club room, where she’s been spending so much time recently. A boy must be related! Nagatoro still isn’t mature enough to admit she might like someone. Ack! Senpai lost his cool. Now he’s the broom locker poltergeist! Ahahaha! What is Senpai doing in there? Does it qualify for the “hidden sex” hentai tag in Miss Nagatoro? Aw. Nagatoro forgives all when she sees her smartphone. Quick! Make a distraction! Sakura’s guardian spirit haunts naughty gyarus! Sakura claims it was a courtesan in the emperor’s palace. That fits her slutty persona.
Okay, now Senpai needs to explain himself. He became the Abominable Locker Monster! Well, things happened. No lies detected! So now, returning Nagatoro’s smartphone and ending up in a broom locker is forgivable. But what about overhearing the girls talk about love? Hahaha! Senpai’s noncommittal musing sounds so fake! Run away! The Miss Nagatoro episode interstitials explain the story Nagatoro gave her friends. As a palace courtesan, Sakura looks sexy!
Oh? Senpai is running to get in shape for the school marathon. How long has he been training? He wants to impress Nagatoro! Any motivation, no matter how ridiculous, to get in some distance running is proper motivation. Ugh. That rolled ankle isn’t going to help Senpai tomorrow. The ankle doesn’t appear to have an issue at the start of the run. Now the excitement begins in Miss Nagatoro! Nagatoro wants to run with Senpai. Wait! All the Nagatoro Friends will run with him! They challenge him to a race, but Senpai says he’ll run at his own pace. He could still win, like in the tortoise and the hare fable. Senpai needs to explain himself. He said the Nagatoro Friends are more like cats than hares.
Speaking of bunnies, Club President is in a bunny girl suit and running shoes! Nagatoro calls out the hare! Senpai knows President is doing another performance art piece. The Nagatoro Friends want to beat President Bunny Girl! Senpai wishes them good luck. Yeah? He’ll also need some because the girls are dragging him along! The tortoise races the hare, so Senpai needs to come too! He’s at the head of the gyaru locomotive express!
Over too soon. A crosswalk light separated the engine from the caboose. Now it’s just Senpai and Nagatoro. Aw. She’s having so much fun. Nagatoro can tell that he’s been training. Of course, she has to add sharp edges to her compliments. Oh, more like squiggly edges. Right on cue for extra drama in Miss Nagatoro. Senpai’s rolled ankle turns into a sprained one. Leave no bushy-haired Senpais behind! Senpai is worried about other things swelling besides his ankle. He’s just now realizing that Nagatoro’s behavior towards him is confusing. Nagatoro isn’t the only confusing female, my Senpai! Hold on a second. Is Nagatoro strong enough to carry Senpai on her back? She can lift him up, but how far can she walk? Yup, she’s done.
Yay! The caboose caught up just in time to hear Senpai say something manly. The tortoise turns into a horse! Cavalry Battle Sports Festival Day formation! And the horse caught up to the hare! President Hare has boosters too. The Nagatoro Friends have watched too many ranger shows. Yosshii transforms into their fighting wedge! Senpai’s voice actor, Daiki Yamashita, has seen some strange things in Yowamushi Pedal and My Hero Academia, but this Miss Nagatoro scene is weird! They passed President Bunny Girl! Did the tortoise beat the hare? No. Because the tortoise was disqualified!
Days have passed, and Nagatoro hasn’t visited Senpai in the art club room. He’s worried she left him because of the broom locker incident! Senpai even screwed up his courage to talk to Gamo and Yosshii by himself. They liked how he said hi to them first. Nagatoro is at home with a cold. No need to be worried! The Nagatoro Friends know what their tanned friend needs. She needs a home visit from a bushy-haired mousy Senpai! I love the random English Senpai throws around in Miss Nagatoro. “Nagatoro House.” So ominous! Oh no. He’s worried Nagatoro can’t make it to the front door! What should he do? Get caught trespassing and peeping, that’s what! It’s the debut of Anetoro! And she knows about “Senpai-kun!”
Next time, Anetoro puts Senpai through the wringer and embarrasses her baby sister as much as she can!
Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro S2 (Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san 2nd Attack) streams on Crunchyroll and VRV.
