“Write what you know.” That’s the advice veteran writers usually offer to those wondering how to start. Anime and manga creators often follow this advice, which accounts for stories about niche sports clubs, cooking, or traveling to look at Mount Fuji from every conceivable angle. It also explains why slice-of-life shows inevitably have the characters drawing doujins and selling them at Comiket. The authors write what they know! Yandere Dark Elf does the same in its two-part story arc at the Big Sight. But Nakano Sora’s reverse isekai tale adds meta layers as it follows Sakura, Mariabelle, and Hinata to an anime expo.
We’ve mentioned earlier that the Yandere Dark Elf anime adapts the serial manga adaptation of the five-volume hentai doujin series (six volumes if you count the omake in its collected works). The anime now has a sexy doujin containing characters based on the anime’s main characters. That’s meta because Nakano Sora has experience selling hentai doujins at conventions. But there are even more layers!
One hilarious comedic formula we see in anime is how otaku girls usually have a hidden fujoshi side. They’ll fantasize about the cute boys wearing frilly gothic-lolita dresses, which Sakura does with the shota-sized Hinata. However, this is not the first time this character has been an otokonoko trap! Fans of Nakano Sora’s hentai works will remember Mariabelle “forcing” Hinata to wear feminine clothes as she does perverted acts to his nether regions. A yandere dark elf who can make herself a futanari is a dangerous being!
Meta upon meta layers. That’s the nature of self-referential narratives and inside jokes. The Yandere Dark Elf anime’s story arc at an anime convention has extra tickles to the funny bone for cultured readers. If you know, you know.

We knew Sakura was an otaku who loves fantasy adventures, but she also draws manga. How should she draw her new female character, though? Eureka! She’ll make her resemble Mariabelle! Oho. Let’s have a yandere dark elf in cosplay help sell Sakura’s doujins. Wouldn’t that be a hoot if her art style matched Nakano Sora? This artist’s style is much fluffier and more precious.
Oh yes. Let’s take Mariabelle’s measurements! No, you’re wrong, Sakura. Your dark elf friend needed to take off all her clothes. For reasons! I never tire of looking at Mariabelle’s chocolate perky peaks. Now it’s time for Sakura to “measure up” to expectations in Yandere Dark Elf.
Convention preparations montage! Of course, the convention is at the Big Sight. Nice. Mariabelle’s costume is a horny devil. Her peekaboo front sells underboob and is easy access for paizuri. Har. Yappari! It’s a trap! Sakura dressed Hinata in a frilly dress. There’s plenty of demand for that, you know! Nosebleeds for Mariabelle.

Oh, okay. It’s not Comiket but “SunComi.” Cosplaying vendors selling doujinshi was the right idea. Sakura is glad to have friends she can share her hobby with. Mariabelle says wearing the cosplay outfits reminds her of adventuring days with Hinata. And nights! Yandere Dark Elf never showed those scenes. Ha! Hinata says they never happened! Uh oh. Mariabelle’s horny devil needs action. Oops. Sakura still needs help selling her books.
