Halloween is only a couple of weeks away. We recruited a cute vampire girl to our side to survive and thrive this spooky month. As great as a vampire can be, our party could have more balance. This week, we’ll recruit a witch girl to cast dazzling spells on us. Spellcasters are a must for any party. Never underestimate the arcane arts, especially when they’re wielded by a cute girl. They’ll protect us from the not-cute monsters that go bump in the night. Let us know which girl you want to recruit in the comments below.
1. Houshou Marine (Magical Girl holoWitches!)
That’s right, Marine is a witch girl too. Well, she’s a witch in Magical Girl holoWitches!. A streaming service collects the light of viewers to sustain the magical “Holocas World.” Marine is one of the world’s most sensational “Holocas” streamers. Marine and her five friends join forces to protect innocent people from the evil entities that seek to corrupt them and destroy the Holocas World.
Motoaki “Yagoo” Tanigo founded Cover Corp on June 13th, 2016. Their first VTuber — Tokino Sora — debuted on September 7th, 2017. Hololive’s anime adaptation premiered on May 16th, 2024.
While it’s true that Marine can only use magic after transforming into a witch, she’s still an incredibly impressive witch girl. She’s a charismatic and beloved figure, which affords her a unique magical presence. Marine also possesses more age and wisdom than her contemporaries, even if she acts lazy and childish.
2. Tinasha (Unnamed Memory)
People refer to Tinasha as the “Witch of the Azure Moon” in hushed tones. She is a legendary woman known as the most powerful witch in the world, and ancient tales chronicle her deeds. Prince Oscar held the slim hope she might grant his wish and sought her out. The Witch of Silence cursed his father to ensure that whosoever loved him would meet a terrible fate. Tinasha agrees to marry him for one year. She works to unravel his curse and find a woman with enough magical resistance to wed him.
Kuji Furumiya and Chibi released the original Unnamed Memory light novel between January 17th, 2019, and April 17th, 2021. ASCII Media Works published all six volumes in the Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint. Studio ENGI’s anime adaptation premiered on April 9th, 2024.
Tinasha’s centuries of wisdom and training have more than earned her reputation as the mightiest witch girl. She is harsh to her enemies but kind to and cheery with her friends and allies. Tina would make for a worthy ally, and not just during Halloween.
3. Noel Niihashi (Burn the Witch)
Noel is a tall witch girl who works for Wing Bind, the Western branch of Soul Society’s Gotei 13. She is a stoic and dutiful member of Wing Bind, but she is not above fighting her colleagues to uphold Wing Bind’s ideals. Balgo Parks and Macy Baljure have come into contact with dragons, which made them targets for Wing Bind. Noel and Noel Niihashi, her partner, work to protect their friends while fighting demons, a dragon, and Wing Bind itself.
Tite Kubo released the original Burn the Witch manga series as a one-shot on July 16th, 2018, and a compilation volume between August 24th, 2020, and September 14th, 2020. Studio Colorido’s anime adaptation premiered on October 2nd, 2020.
Noel has received high-level training from Wing Bind, preparing her for any eventuality. Her offensive, defensive, and supportive spells are effective on small and large enemies. Noel also has a flying device, as any good witch girl should have. Above all, she’s a well-rounded girl in a tight uniform and short skirt. This gives her a significant edge against other witch girls.
4. Viola (The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch)
Viola is a lovely tan witch girl. Every witch coven needs a tan girl around. The centuries-old witch Alyssa raised Viola, who grew up to become a competent and mature-looking witch. She looks older than her mother, a sore spot for Alyssa. Despite that, the mother-daughter pair are as close as ever. The two live their lives in fun and magical ways.
Joe has more in-depth reviews of the series here.
Piroya released the original The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch manga series on July 3rd, 2019. Flex Comix has since published six volumes in Comic Meteor. Studio A-Real’s anime adaptation premiered on October 1st, 2023.
Viola doesn’t have much combat training, but her sheer magical aptitude and an overprotective mother more than compensate for that. She can also summon familiars, which would prove an asset.
5. Azusa Aizawa (I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level)
Azusa is an isekai witch girl. She worked herself to death in her previous life and desired only a peaceful and easy-going second life. A kind goddess granted her wish and allowed her to live for centuries on a grassy hill populated by low-level slimes. Her three hundred years of slime hunting maxed out her stats and granted her enough power to easily defeat a dragon in battle. Her easy-going life becomes more active when she begins living with slime children, elves, dragons, and even demons.
Kisetsu Morita and Benio released the original I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level light novel on January 14th, 2017. SB Creative published 25 volumes in the GA Novel imprint afterward. Studio Revoroot’s anime adaptation premiered on April 10th, 2021.
Azusa has a natural aptitude for battle, as shown when her first real fight saw her easily best a full-grown dragon girl without breaking a sweat. She has a natural maternal instinct. Which is ideal for cultured otaku who want a caring waifu.

I would recruit Noel. True, she’s a bit stoic, but she’s kindhearted and quite strong. She can access multiple worlds and get around with ease. Noel can also fly at high velocities, which definitely helps.
J-List has plenty of anime figures depicting witch girls on life-changing adventures. The Elaina TENITOL Fig a la mode Figure from Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina is for purchase now.
