I know what you’re thinking. What do bodacious tatas have to do with an undead adventurer in a fantasy RPG-style anime? Before we dig deeper into The Unwanted Undead Adventurer, I must present two facts, a pair if you will, for better understanding.
Why is this chest and cavernous cleavage necessary to talk about? Because this young woman, Lorraine Vivie, is a 24-year-old genius of magical research into monsters. And she’s known the lead character, Rentt Faina, for ten years before he turned into a skeleton after a dragon ate him. That means he watched those ginormous orbs develop from molehills into the mountainous mammaries we see now! It’s no wonder this guy wants to become human again! Forget all that crap the unwanted undead adventurer says about reaching the top rank of the adventurer class. Massive mommy milkers are worth more per ounce than Mythril. That’s what I say, anyway. Ahem. Let’s continue.
Oh, one more thing. Did the dragon poop Rentt out, and then he woke up as a skeleton? How do dead adventurers become undead, shambling corpses? Do the other skeleton monsters go insane from waking up in a pile of dragon dung as a bag of bones? Did thinking about Lorraine’s pontoon pair keep Rentt sane? I’m only musing, but oppai power conquers all.
Human Behind the Skull Mask in The Unwanted Undead Adventurer
Rentt Faina continues a recent trend in fantasy RPG-style stories in light novels, manga, and anime of skeleton heroes. The difference between The Unwanted Undead Adventurer and its predecessors, Overlord and Skeleton Knight in Another World, is that Rentt’s tale is a straightforward swords and sorcery premise. Both Overlord and Skeleton Knight had players who found themselves trapped in their favorite games but were outrageously overpowered. In contrast, our unwanted undead adventurer is a small fry grinder who keeps his identity after he spawns as a low-level monster. RPG players know how monsters have various levels as they progress through a game, so The Unwanted Undead Adventurer exploits that premise as the backstory for our hero. What if liches from World of Warcraft started as lowly skeletons slowly leveling up instead of a weird necromancy soul transference?
Where all three skeleton mask anime agree is having boobalicious waifus. Overlord has the succubus Albedo, Skeleton Knight has the dark elf Ariane, and Unwanted Undead has the implied sexpot doctor, Lorraine. Those mounds of flesh offset the lack from the male side of the equation. That math works out!
Who Would Want an Undead Adventurer Anyway?
Starting as a light novel by Yuu Okano with illustrations by Jaian in October 2017, The Unwanted Undead Adventurer also became a manga a month later under artist Haiji Nakasone. Silver Link’s subdivision studio, Connect, will produce the anime under director Noriaki Akitaya, who recently oversaw the oddball isekai anime Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon. That anime had a hot girl strapping a vending machine to her back, so I expect more odd sexiness from The Unwanted Undead Adventurer. We already explored Lorraine’s chest canyon, so we should meet the other cast members.
- Rentt Faina — Ryouta Suzuki (Red from Banished from the Hero’s Party). Our bag of bones was a ten-year adventuring veteran before he came out the other side of a dragon’s digestive system. Allegedly. He cooks and cleans for his chesty childhood friend, Lorraine.
- Lorraine Vivie — Mikako Komatsu (Gamou from Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro). A genius magical researcher and adventurer whose intellect developed at a similarly outrageous rate as her bosom.
- Sheila Ibarss — Ikumi Hasegawa (Mihono Bourbon from Uma Musume: Pretty Derby). The guild secretary who handles the missing bag of bone’s adventuring account. She wonders what happened to him.
- Rina Rupaage — Sayumi Suzushiro (Satono Crown from Uma Musume: Pretty Derby). She’s a rookie adventurer that the unwanted undead adventurer rescued before he became a dragon dookie. She needs to find him to repay her debt.
