The Demon Slayer: Infinity Train movie has finally released this weekend in Japan and things are looking bright for this highly awaited film. Multiple news outlets have reported that the film has already grossed 1.34 billion yen (over 12 million US dollars) on its opening day alone, and is predicted to hit 3 billion by the end of the weekend, which would surpass Japan’s current best opening weekend title, The Matrix: Reloaded, which claimed the top spot at 2.2 billion yen.
In addition to the film’s success, a special Demon Slayer wrapped train has been running since September to promote the film. The train will continue to run through the Hakata and Nagasaki stations until December. Kyushu Fukuoka Otaku Media on YouTube released a video earlier this month showcasing the colorful wrap, including an Infinity Train movie poster.
While the inside seems to be that of your normal, everyday train, we can’t account for any demon sightings as of yet.
All in all, the great success of the film in Japan predicts great things for the film once it reaches the West next year. While a release date is not yet known, fans can currently bide their time with the newest spinoff comic, which features Flame Hashira Rengoku in his early days as a Hashira. The chapter is currently available to read for free on the Viz Media website.
But what do the fans think? Are you hyped for this movie? Just want more spinoff chapters now that the main story is over?
