Episode 6 — “Honey, Let Me Wash Your Back.”
Takamine-san Makes Me Go Hmm.
Fanservice main characters, whom the audience usually uses as a self-insert device, commonly have one irritating trait. Low self-esteem. Sometimes, these self-esteem issues come in an ignorant form. The protagonist misunderstands the depth of his talents, but this allows the character to develop and accept compliments from others. We see a version of this narrative dynamic in The Unaware Atelier Meister. But how do you feel about the guy after his constant questions and disbelief about others’ feelings become grating? With Koushi, Takamine-san is on thin ice halfway through the season. Positives and negatives arise, but are there enough items in the plus column to keep the show enjoyable, let alone watchable?
Takamine-san’s Negative Notes
Koushi’s biological responses to Takane’s teasing bode well for his eventually pushing her down and mounting her. But his self-esteem is so low that Koushi can’t appreciate his blessings. The most beautiful girl in school gave him the summer vacation girlfriend experience. Unfortunately, Koushi uses every excuse to discount Takane’s obvious setups for him to take the lead. He should know by now to take her tsundere rationales with a grain of salt. We knew Koushi was dumb, but did his low self-worth make him even dumber? The glacial pace of character development diminishes Takane’s hope for romantic progress.
Positive Developments
Takamine-san taught us that Koushi is a regular teenage boy. He has sexual fantasies about Takane, like any hot-blooded young adult, after Takane’s onslaught of teasing arousal. She is wearing down his inhibitions and skittishness, much to the audience’s enjoyment. Every source of topless nudity except two scenes came from the mind of a horny Koushi. A stray hand caused a double nip slip in the bathroom, and Takane likes wearing sheer negligees for sleepwear. Koushi’s imagination supplied everything else. And no, Takane’s pink balloons do not count.
On the romantic pair’s other side, Takane’s characterization is much better. She escalated her erotic teasing to force him to get it up and push her down! Takane even backed off after she saw Koushi felt embarrassed about his erection. She is still a maiden at heart, hoping for a love confession during a private moment watching fireworks. Baka Koushi! At least the audience can appreciate her gambits to protect her self-image and provide him opportunities to pierce her protective bubble if the dumb Koushi cannot.
On balance, Koushi’s horny imagination keeps us watching Takamine-san despite his irritating hesitation. So far.

We have two Takamine-san episodes inside Takane’s house! We left off with her splayed out naked on top of Koushi. Cliffhanger! Aw. The power came back on. No fumbling around with various body parts in the dark for Koushi. Kuro the Cat finds Takane’s antics boring, but Takane offers to cook dinner for Koushi. But to spice things up, Takane suggests she and Koushi play newlyweds. But it’s also a punishment game: Do something out of character, and… Koushi will never marry anyone else! Take the hint already, Koushi!
Naked apron newlywed cooking! Hoho. She made Koushi call her “Takane-san.” They’re on a given-name basis already! She calls him “anata” in a lilting voice. “Oh, Honey, Sweetheart, Darling! Can you put panties on me?” Koushi thought wearing underwear underneath the apron would assuage his prudishness. It’s the opposite! That look is so distracting he can’t even stir a pot of stew. Hey, Takane used Eternal Virgin Road legitimately. Newlyweds can’t eat burned stew. Um, Takane? A boy “preparing his seed” has nothing to do with cooking.
Uh oh. Koushi navigated the minefield of standing next to Takane’s naked apron in the kitchen. But she still had more poking at his inhibitions left. Newlywed hand feeding and licking spills on bare thighs! A devoted husband wouldn’t let any food his lovely wife made for him go to waste. Right? Huh? Takane started her time loop again. How? Oh, she’s such a tease. She put on her pasties underneath the apron. Takane rewound time before she spilled anything. She won’t let Koushi lick her porcelain skin that easily. Otherwise, she’d be a “lewd woman.” Newsflash, Takane.
More Takamine-san Newlywed Nighttime Maneuvers
More stress for Koushi — It’s bath time! A newlywed wife should wash her husband’s back. How odd. Koushi makes a big deal out of using the same shampoo Takane does. Does he have a hair fetish? Would this be like rubbing himself with her hair? Takane, the teaser! She wore an even skimpier bikini that’s worse than pure nudity. Oof. Takamine-san showed us Takane’s backstory last week but presents her BACKSTORY in this episode!
Backwashing is okay, but watch out for banana washing! Takane claims she’s practicing for her husband when the time comes, and Koushi acting as a stand-in is repayment for staying overnight and feeding him. But she’s practicing on her childhood love interest! Take the hint, Koushi! I’m glad the audience knows what’s going on in her mind.
Oh, dumb Koushi. He thinks popping a boner in this situation will chase her away. That’s the whole point! Counting prime numbers won’t stop the prime member. Oh, come on, Takamine-san. A water balloon prank in the bath? Uh oh. Not just backwashing but “frontwashing!” Oh, his hair. Sure. On his head? Which head? Oh boy. That shampoo smell affected Koushi. Boob attack! Hide the “evidence” underwater! Oh no. Takane is more innocent than she portrays. She failed to account for engorgement.
Let’s recap Koushi’s spank bank from the bathroom adventure. How about one more entry? Takane in a see-through negligee! No, Takane. Koushi will not realize how important he is to you. You should bonk him on the head with your boobs until he gets it. He took no hints tonight.

Koushi’s summer vacation girlfriend experience continues with Takane at a fireworks festival. The school president’s cover story? Patrolling the area for student discipline issues. Oh, like public indecency and immoral displays of affection? Hahaha! Takane asked Koushi to put her lingerie on because she had worn nothing under her yukata. Very traditional! And naughty. Ah. This is like Takamine-san’s first episode. Takane likes making Koushi squirm as he slides filmy fabric up her thighs where people can catch them. Hoho! She called him “Koushi.” More of that summer girlfriend experience.
Would Takane like the summer vacation boyfriend experience? Koushi’s imagination covers that material. Fireworks time! Literal ones. Oh? Takane used her time loop to check on the whereabouts of other students during the fireworks show. Yup. Koushi is dumb. She did that to find the most secluded area to watch the fireworks together alone.
