A few months ago twitter users were lamenting the impending removal of the iconic Steins;Gate coin lockers in Akihabara, after a notice was posted. One of the locations from the Steins;Gate visual novel and anime, fans would visit the coin lockers as part of visiting famous “holy lands” (聖地 in Japanese) from the legendary time travel series.

The removal of the Steins;Gate coin lockers clearly an attempt by the evil organization SERN to obfuscate the existence of the most important computer in history, the IBN 5100, which is required for their future world domination plot.
Another iconic location from the game and anime, the Radio Kaikan building where Okabe encounters Kurisu’s dead body was also removed in 2014, torn down and replaced with a new building in an effort to erase the memories of the time machine that crashed into the building in 2011. Another evil plot by SERN!
