A struggling toy company gets the super-robot crisis it hoped for when enemies not seen for twenty years suddenly attack. Coincidence? Dandivine (獣王武神ダンデヴァイン) premiered October 7, bringing its dusty mechanical savior back into service just when its old merchandising empire needs a bestseller. In case you missed it, here is why Dandivine deserves a launch-window inspection.

Dandivine Brings a Retired Savior Back to the Launch Bay
This original super-robot anime mixes corporate desperation with sincere cockpit heroics, then hands the controls to the company president’s ordinary teenage grandson.
Twenty years ago, Dandivine (a combined super-robot) saved Earth from the interdimensional Aposdoll invasion. Peace turned the once-revered guardian into a dust-covered “toy.” Meanwhile, the manufacturer that profited from its fame entered a long decline. Company president Genjuurou Shijima wants his mechanical mascot back in action. Three mysterious sisters oblige by reviving the Aposdoll. Corporate synergy has rarely arrived with this much structural damage.
The new crisis pulls high school student Gekiha Shijima into the cockpit. The first episode introduces Dandi Ace as the machine at the center of his sudden assignment. But Dandivine remains the towering metal savior that everyone wants back in action. That is one hefty product relaunch.
Dandivine Cast and Staff Power the Relaunch
Giant robots are the family business in Dandivine, in more ways than one!
Cast
- Takuma Terashima — Gekiha Shijima, the “normal” teenage pilot pulled into the cockpit.
- Haruka Shiraishi — Akane Kuzumi, Gekiha’s classmate and girlfriend.
- Saya Aizawa — Kirei Shijima, Gekiha’s sharp-tongued younger sister.
- Katsuyuki Konishi — Yuusaku Kuroiwa, Gekiha’s uncle and a former pilot who bridges the old and new heroic eras.
Production Staff
- Animation production — LIDEN FILMS and Kayac Animation
- Director — Yi Cao
- Series composition and scripts — Toshiki Inoue, bringing extensive Kamen Rider experience to the production
- Mechanical design — An
- Combining DX toy development — GOD BRAVE STUDIO, alongside the anime
The result is a project where merchandising sits inside the story and behind the production curtain. The “toyetic” energy fuels the roketto-panchi!
Combining Its Way to a Rocket-Punch Recommendation
Dandivine has an edgy comic premise beneath its shiny metal shell: the world’s former savior returns when a toy company needs free marketing. Then the “normal” grandson of the toy company’s president gets swept into a battle by his robot-pilot uncle. Jokes about pumping sales numbers and how peace turns heroes into broke construction workers abound.
Yes, Dandivine is a six-hour commercial from Good Smile Company to make you buy new super-robot toys. But I found four extra reasons to watch — three alien babes and one OL bombshell who might have “history” with the Dandi Ace pilot!
What happened in the twenty years after Dandivine entered extended maintenance mode? How did the alien girls grow into kemonomimi idols? Does the office-lady Yuuga (Ruriko Aoki) wear anything besides a short-skirted business suit and pantyhose? Only watching future episodes can answer these questions.
Where to Watch Dandivine
Dandivine premiered on October 7 on Japanese television and streaming services. Crunchyroll carries the series internationally, with availability varying by region. Muse Asia also licensed Dandivine for parts of Asia.
Gattai hasshin! — Dandivine gives modern super-robot fans a sturdy hook by welding corporate survival and transforming robots into a single launch sequence. The anime understands that a robot saving the world can move merchandise with help from bodacious eye candy. Cast-off figurines and die-cast interlocking robot parts? Probably expensive.
