So whenever I come across a doujin that has SSR-art, I gush. And I gush hard! And Chipa’s (Circle Arutana) Meet Up and Hook Up with a Megumin Cosplayer (Megumin Cosplayer to Off-Pako Gokko) is exactly that kind of doujin.
I might have mentioned this before, but Megumin from KonoSuba is one of my all-time favorite character designs. Does the fact that her colors are red, gold, and dark tones matter? Could be — I love that combination. Likewise, I’m smitten with vanilla doujins that are laid-back and feature believable-looking waifus. So if you combine the two, you get a euphoric Kashou. And that’s exactly what the Megumin Cosplayer to Off-Pako Gokko series caused: an excessively and wantonly stimulated Kashou.

Megumin Cosplayer to Off-Pako Gokko Synopsis
Megumin Off-Pako tells a not-at-all complicated story. The story follows MGMN, a newbie doujin artist, cosplayer, and gamer. MGMN finds herself in a situation many mangaka intimately know — her reclusive life has come back to bite her when she needs people’s help at a doujinshi event. Ever the hopeful optimist, MGMN tries to recruit someone from her gamer group, but it’s a dud. Instead of a solid team, she ends up with the single, lonely (spelled lucky) Sato. At the doujinshi event, everything seems to be going well, until Sato notices that he can see MGMN’s breasts! And what does he do? He snaps a picture! Usually that would lead to a lawsuit, but she was totally fine with it. And after the event wraps up, the two celebrate with a few drinks.
But that’s when a tipsy MGMN realizes she doesn’t have a hotel! So she has to spend the night at Sato’s house! After all, a gentleman doesn’t leave a lady on the streets. But things will always erotically escalate when two horny otaku share a room and take sexy pictures to have as doujin references.
But that’s the first chapter of Megumin Cosplayer to Off-Pako Gokko — we only stock the second chapter. So what’s that about? Much of the same, actually. There’s a convention, taking pictures for “references,” and then a whole lot of fornication!
Where Are My Laid-Back Horny Days?
I believe that we gravitate to what we want and need. Most of my friends don’t watch anime or consume hentai (the uncultured swine). But the ones that do all prefer isekai shows, particularly the ones with OP powers. These dudes constantly complain about how mundane life is. So the possibilities of an adventure-filled life are alluring to them.
But as someone who’s wrestled a crackhead in DeKalb and ran from gangsters in Guatemala, I can tell you — adventure stopped agreeing with me when I turned 25. I no longer yearn for wild stories. I want comfy, laid-back days filled with raunchy sex with friends who let me take lewd cosplay pictures of them. That’s probably not going to happen, but I can live vicariously through the Megumin Cosplayer to Off-Pako Gokko series.
It’s the Art I Tell You! THE PRISTINE ART!!!
Some of you may be thinking, “Kashou, thanks for sharing. But $12.50 plus shipping for a 36-page doujin in this economy? You hit your head too hard on your last hike.” YES, but… Chipa’s artwork is pristine. Have you ever seen those “Why are you always hard when you see me?” Umamusume memes? This doujin can look me in the eyes and tell me that. Every time I’ve read Megumin Cosplayer to Off-Pako Gokko, I end up horny and excited. I find myself conflicted — do I read, or do I fap? I’m overly stimulated and can’t do both at once.
Chipa’s shading is the definition of fuwa fuwa. Their attention to expressions is dizzyingly perfect. There’s an obsessive attention to detail so great that even the cracks in the concrete and wallpaper get coddled. But whenever the characters get frazzled, the art seamlessly shifts into raw (hehehe) drawings. Chipa’s sound effects convey the tone and emotion of what’s being said. They’re not an addition to the panel — they’re a part of it. And of all the Megumin cosplays I’ve seen in doujins and real life, MGMN’s is by far the most kawaii. And I’m always down for the kawaii.
