We Love Doujin Culture from Japan
J-List loves Japan’s tradition of doujinshi. These are fan-created manga that drive so much of the creativity of Japan’s pop culture world. Virtually every artist you’ve ever heard of got their start drawing doujinshi for the twice-annual Comiket. Some of them made safe-for-work creations, but the vast majority broke into the industry by creating sexy doujinshi, often parodying famous works like Pokemon or Harry Potter. The anime world is generally okay with copyrighted works being used for this purpose. Without doujinshi, the next generation of famous artists wouldn’t be born.
