The new anime season is bursting with fantasy isekai adventure. We’ve got Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World season 4, Witch Hat Atelier, and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 4. Elf Cosplays Keep Up Fantasy Traditions
Of course, you don’t need an elf waifu in every fantasy anime. But Tolkien — ever the trend setter when it came to fantasy — gave us Lady Galadriel of Lothlórien and Arwen Undómiel, so certain traditions need to be upheld. They were the OG tsundere, because you can’t expect love from a woman who’s hundreds of years older than you. Or from a lady with more magic in her pinkie than you’ve got in your puny excuse for a staff.
Or are elves a mature-woman fetish with effective skin care?
This is fantasy. You decide.
Can Elf Cosplayers Save the Planet?
Elves live in harmony with nature, so it makes sense that the more people cosplay as elves, the more recycling they’d do. Yes, it’s a stretch of logic, but it’s hard to create bite-sized chunks of intelligent literature that can stand between flaming hot elf cosplay waifu pics.
And yet, there’s a hint of deeper meaning here.
Elves are far more elegant, intelligent, and graceful than we could ever be. They’re refined, beyond human perfection. Even Frieren (despite the airtime her booty gets dangling from mimic jaws). Elves suggest the heavenly, the spiritual perfection of humanity. Maybe our creation of elves suggests humanity’s wonder of a higher, spiritual ideal.
And, if elves and elf cosplays encourage us to be a better version of ourselves, then pass the pointy ears.
