Our favorite high fantasy elf girl is making her grand return. Frieren is one of the legendary heroes who slew the demon king to save the world. They forged their legend decades ago. Her friends have since fallen to old age one by one. Frieren’s true understanding of life and death came entirely too late for her to cherish her limited time with them. We’ll see how far she goes to see them once more when Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Soso no Frieren) Season 2 premieres on January 16th, 2026.
Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe released the original Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga series on April 28th, 2020. Shogakukan has published fourteen volumes in Weekly Shonen Sunday. Studio Madhouse’s anime adaptation premiered on September 29th, 2023.

The immortal elf and her new companions are as follows:
- Frieren — Atsumi Tanezaki (Lilith from Monster Musume). Frieren is an immortal elf and a member of the Hero Party.
- Fern — Kana Ichinose (Suletta Mercury from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury). Fern is a human mage and Frieren’s apprentice.
- Stark — Chiaki Kobayashi (Shogo Taguchi from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime). Stark is a human warrior traveling with Fern and Frieren.

Frieren is a near-immortal elven mage. She traveled with Himmel the Hero, Heiter the priest, and Eisen the dwarven warrior to defeat the demon king. Their victory cemented their place in history as the great Hero Party. Frieren took her leave of the party and promised to reunite with them in a few decades. Their reunion forced her to confront the nature of mortality. Her friends grew old, and Himmel passed away in front of her.
Frieren decided then to set out and meet with Himmel once more. Her desire to express her true feelings compelled her to see beyond the veil that separates life from death. Frieren is soon joined by Fern, Heiter’s apprentice, and Stark, Eisen’s apprentice. The three make their way north to find a place where Frieren may reunite with Himmel once again. Their travels are not without issue, however. The demons Frieren once fought continue their malicious campaign, and new evils rise to make them seem pleasant by comparison.
