Rurouni Kenshin makes an epic return with one of the most iconic enemies of the series. The hitokiri bathed in hellfire rose to burn all of Japan in his wake. The wandering swordsman wields his weapon alongside his allies to face Makoto Shishio and his Juppongatana. We’ll see who stands tall in the conclusion when this anime series returns sometime in October 2024. We reviewed the first season for those who need to catch up.

Rurouni Kenshin vs. the Juppongatana
Himura Kenshin is a wandering swordsman known as a rurouni. He travels from place to place with a humble smile. Kenshin’s plans change when he hears about the famed Hitokiri Battosai murdering innocent people. He uncovers the truth after a fateful meeting with Kaoru Kamiya. Kenshin settles down at her dojo and encounters further troubles, from corrupt officers to a corrupt businessman. He and his new friends defeat them all, but further danger encroaches, and Kenshin must set out again.
Makoto Shishio forged his own legend in battle and became Kenshin’s successor. However, he knew nothing of honor, and his plans for conquest became apparent. His superiors failed to kill him in the past, and he has since returned to burn Japan to the ground. The famed Hitokiri Battosai must return to save everyone.
