It’s been quite some time since we last discussed Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence (Shiro Seijo to Kuro Bokushi / White Saint and Black Reverend). Our saint is now descending on high to provide plenty of moe moments after that delay. Studio Doga Kobo is now delivering the saint and her pastor, so we can see them in the new trailer. The series is expected to premiere on July 12th, 2023.

The Saint and the Pastor
Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence is a slice-of-life series following the titular saint and pastor. They run a small church in a small and homely town. They tend to their followers and offer advice and guidance as needed. Lawrence (Kaito Ishikawa) handles the day-to-day operations, including cooking food for himself and Cecilia (Hime Sawada) and cleaning the church. On the surface, the saint presents herself in a manner befitting her divine title. Everything she does when her followers aren’t around is quite different.
Like Himouto Umaru-chan‘s title character, Cecilia acts lazy, deflated, and willful when people aren’t around. This is a side she presents to Lawrence, the dutiful pastor she has a crush on. True to her title, she has incredible powers from the divine, such as offering divine protection and purification to others. Saints are great enough for Lawrence to wonder why one would want to stay with him in such a small church. He is, of course, dense to the truth. The Saint and the Pastor live daily, carrying out their duties to the people and one another.

Hazano Kazutake is both writer and artist for Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence. Kodansha began publishing this 4-koma series on April 20th, 2017. Twelve volumes have since been released for fans to purchase and collect.
