My Happy Marriage (Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon) is a tale that is as old as time. It has similar themes to Cinderella, from evil stepsisters and stepmothers to the use of supernatural abilities. This tale of romance, magic, and intimidating reputations will begin on July 5th, 2023. Studio Kinema Citrus released a trailer in advance to get fans and potential viewers hyped.

The Cruel Prince and the Unfortunate Princess
My Happy Marriage finds two people in desperate situations who receive a second chance together. Miyo (voiced by Reina Ueda) was born to the Saimori family, known for their supernatural abilities. Unfortunately, she evidently never exhibited such talents, making her a subject of abuse and neglect. Her stepmother and stepsister treat her as a servant, and even her father has abandoned her to her fate. So she was made to keep her head low and obey every order.
When Miyo reached a marriageable age, her family was determined to marry her off. Accordingly, it was their intent that she would make some use of her for the family. Miyo accepted that she would never be happy, especially when she learned her future husband’s name.
Kiyoka (voiced by Kaito Ishikawa) is the head of the Kudo family and a great military captain. He wields the power of fire and is known to be ruthlessly cruel. He had been engaged before, but the women all left within three days, a fact known to Miyo. The reality of the situation turns out to be quite different, and her supposed cruel fiancé is surprisingly quite kind and warm. These two will find happiness and solace within one another.
My Happy Marriage Origins
Akumi Agitogi began to write this series and post it to the user-generated website Shosetsuka ni Naro. Fujimi Shobo acquired the publishing rights before tasking the artist Tsukiho Tsukioka to help adapt My Happy Marriage to the light novel format. The series was first published in the Fujimi L Bunko imprint on January 15th, 2019. Six volumes have since been released.
Square Enix obtained the manga publishing rights a year before and hired the artist Rito Kohsaka to adapt. This run was first published in the Gangan Online magazine on December 20th, 2018. Fans have been able to purchase and collect four volumes since then.
A live-action film written by Tomoe Kanno and directed by Ayuko Tsukahara premiered in Japan on March 17th, 2023. The movie starred Mio Imada as Miyo Saimori and Ren Meguro as Kiyoka Kudo.
