A new entry in the long-running BanG Dream! (Bandori!) multimedia franchise has been announced. Titled BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!! stars an all-girl rock band named MyGO. Details are scarce at this point, and the trailer itself doesn’t help much, but BanG Dream! has a solid track record, so it’s safe to get hyped.
The brief teaser trailer that consists of still images will have to suffice until Summer 2023 when the series will premiere.
Bushiroad, the company that owns BanG Dream!, has long maintained a promotional home page, an official Twitter page, a YouTube page, and an Instagram page, all of which are dedicated to the series in general. However, recent posts have focused solely on BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!, such as a news update on the home page, and the trailer on their Twitter page. They have also released a nice key art for the series, as seen below.
It’s My Go
As previously stated, the plot details for BanG Dream! It’s MyGO! are scarce. Thus far, we have the character names and their respective voice actresses.
- Tomori is voiced by Hina Yomiya
- Anon is voiced by Rin Tateishi
- Rana is voiced by Hina Aoki
- Soyo is voiced by Mika Kohinata
- Taki is voiced by Coco Hayashi
The titular band MyGO!!!!! was originally formed in 2022 by Bushiroad. The intent for this particular band of virtual rockers is to blend the real and virtual universes. As such, their voice cast was kept a secret.
This anime adaptation was announced during their “MyGo!!!!! 4th Live” event. BanG Dream! It’s MyGO! is likely to portray a fictional version of the band while retaining their normal voice cast. The series will be animated by Sanzigen, and directed by Kodai Kakimoto, with Yuniko Ayana writing and supervising scripts.
BanG Dream! Origins
From the beginning, Takaaki Kidani stressed that BanG Dream! was not an idol project, but a “girl band” series, to differentiate it from the likes of Love Live!. The franchise was created by Bushiroad president Takaaki Kidani in January 2015, with an original story by Ko Nakamura. Kidani first conceived of the project a year earlier in March 2014 when he wanted to lead a music project after seeing the success of Love Live! School Idol Festival, a mobile game published by his company.
Nakamura was approached by a Bushiroad editor who was familiar with his work to write the story. The artist Aya Ishida was brought in, and the two partnered to create the franchise’s first work BanG_Dream! Star Beat, a manga that began serialization in the Monthly Bushiroad magazine in January 2015, and ended its run in December 2015.
If you’re in the mood for more cute girls who can rock hard, the J-List shop can scratch that itch. Hitori Goto Nendoroid Figure from Bocchi the Rock! makes a cute rocker even cuter.
