If you’ve never watched any of the Lupin the 3rd television franchise, now’s your chance to check it out from the beginning, thanks to streaming service HIDIVE.
In an announcement that hit their official blog on Tuesday, November 23rd, the streaming service revealed that they have captured the entire television run of the elusive gentleman thief from part one all the way to the most recent part six. In part six of the television franchise, Lupin the 3rd must take on Sherlock Holmes himself in a battle of wits to see if the famed thief can get away once again.
If that’s not enough to wet your whistle, HIDIVE also revealed that they have the criminally underrated television series A Woman Called Fujiko Mine. This is an amazing grab for HIDIVE and if you’ve ever been curious about checking out the Lupin the 3rd franchise, this is going to be your golden ticket!
While I’ve never really been a huge fan of the Lupin franchise (I want to watch the more modern parts of the story before making a final judgment on that, however), I am thrilled beyond belief that HIDIVE is showing some love to A Woman Called Fujiko Mine. An artistic masterclass, this 2012 series takes the femme fatale archetype and turns her into a three-dimensional character who isn’t above using every single gift that the gods gave her to get herself out of trouble. It’s a brilliant piece of work that holds up well, even if you’re not familiar with the other characters.
