Though it didn’t make our list of most anticipated series of the upcoming season, Peach Boy Riverside makes my personal list of series that I want to watch because it’s one of three series airing that will adapt a series worked on by manga author Coolkyousinnjya (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S and Idaten are the other two).
In an announcement first reported by Comic Natalie on Friday, June 4th, the staff behind Peach Boy Riverside revealed they will premiere the first two episodes of the series a few days early on YouTube for fans to check out. The premiere takes place on June 20th and if that’s not enough to whet your appetite; they have promised that the episodes shown on YouTube will have differences in them from what they will show on television. Perhaps this is a sneaky promise of extra fan service?
As previously mentioned, Peach Boy Riverside is a manga series created by Coolkyousinnjya that has been serialized since August 2015 in Shonen Magazine R, along with the online manga site Magazine Pocket. It’s been collected into nine volumes in Japan while Kodansha USA will release the first volume in English on June 29th, 2021.
Asahi Production will produce the animation for this series with Shigeru Ueda serving as the director. Keiichiro Ochi is taking care of the series composition. The series will premiere on television on July 1st.
Coolkyousinnjya has quickly become one of my favorite currently active creators, which should come as no surprise given how prolific he is. Having three anime adaptations of his works airing all at the same time is more than sufficiently impressive and I’ve yet to find another instance of this happening in anime history.
We talk about Rumiko Takahashi having an insane schedule; I’d really like to know when this manga author has time to sleep!
