Manga has proven itself to be an incredible medium for telling stories in visual form, and it’s become one of the core engines propelling Japan’s popular culture to all corners of the globe. Pretty much any emotion can be captured instantly in manga form, and because of the light-hearted nature of these “whimsical pictures,” we can often see ourselves in the characters we’re looking at. I asked J-List’s awesome customers on Twitter and Facebook to describe themselves in manga form, and here’s what we came up with!
This panel describes me pretty accurately. I seem to have two modes: either I’m slacking off and playing video games instead of getting important work done, or I’m going overboard with work and other projects, to the point that Mrs. J-List worries about me.
To some, “pure” is two people holding hands. To others, it’s sharing vanilla sex. How do you define the concept?
Of course, some people are pure in body as well as mind. There’s nothing wrong with that.

As this manga panel shows, for those of us who’ve embraced our nature as sexual creatures, we just want in on whatever perverted things are going on around us.
It’s always great to share a fun game with someone special, and maybe have some new experiences.
The good thing about being human is that we’re all perverted, at least some of the time or the species would have died out long ago. Both men and women are perverted in their unique ways, as this manga panel illustrates.
Each of us wants something different in a relationship. Some of us want love and companionship, while others desire the physical side of things. Some of us just want boobs.
Yes, pretty much any situation can be made better by adding boobs. It’s been proven by science.
Naturally, boobs come in all sizes, from A to G Cup, and all are great. What matters most is the person they’re attached to.
Some of us are confused about relationships and aren’t sure how to progress. As usual, taking things day by day and learning what works for both people is good advice.
Finding common ground is important. Why not start with a hobby you both share?
Some of us aren’t lucky enough to have IRL relationships, so we have to make do with fictional characters. While I believe we should all try to challenge ourselves to be more sociable so we can do well in the game of life, 2D characters are also fine.
Some of us have motivational issues that cause us to embrace our slothful nature, like Futaba from Idolmaster Cinderella Girls, who wants to become an idol so she can live a life of leisure by earning royalties. At least she’s got a proper plan for her life.
Sadly, too many of us lack the self-confidence we need to move forward in life and have image issues for this reason. Because of the way confirmation bias makes it easy for us to find evidence for beliefs we already hold, we can’t see that this is all a self-reinforcing vicious circle that feeds on negative emotions that aren’t necessary.
In the end, everyone is the protagonist of our own story, although we might not believe it at first. The sooner we realize that we’re the MCs of our own anime series, we can start to move the story in the direction we want it to go!
