A chill is in the breeze, days are getting shorter, and leaves are turning golden brown which are all surefire signs that the fall anime season is fast approaching. That means that promotional videos are going to be headed in our direction at a fast and furious pace for the next couple of weeks!
Case in point; over the weekend Crunchyroll released a brand new, English subtitled, promotional video for the upcoming series ToniKawa: Over the Moon for You. From studio Seven Arcs, the series will hit the airwaves on October 3rd, with the streaming premiere to happen on Crunchyroll soon afterward.
Director Hiroshi Ikehata will team up with studio Seven Arcs and writer Kazuho Hyodo for the fall 2020 television series. Additional crew members include Masakatsu Sasaki designing the characters and “Endō.” composing the background music.
In the starring voice roles will be Akari Kito as the female lead, Tsukasa, while Junya Enoki will play the male lead, Nasa.
The name of the anime has been changed multiple times. Originally titled Tonikaku Kawaii, which is literally translated as “Generally Cute,” the first known title for the anime was Fly Me to the Moon before being changed once again to the official title ToniKawa: Over the Moon for You. Kenjiro Hata originally created the series in early 2018 when it began running in Weekly Shonen Sunday. It has twelve volumes in print in Japan as of August 2020. In February 2020, Viz Media announced that it had licensed the series and they released the first volume in September 2020.
The story of ToniKawa follows a student named Nasa Yuzaki, who is saved by a young woman on the day of his high school entrance exams. Falling in love with her instantly, Nasa asks the girl, Yuzaki Tsukasa, to be his girlfriend. She replies that she’ll only be his girlfriend if they get married, at which point they part ways… until Nasa’s 18th birthday when Yuzaki reappears with a marriage certificate. Thus begins their life together.
