Back in November of 2019, an anime adaptation was announced for the dark fantasy light novel series Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi: Sokushi Mahō to Skill Copy no Chōetsu Heal, otherwise known as Redo of Healer. Details on the anime have been scarce since then, but fans of traditional fantasy series with a dark twist like The Rising of the Shield Hero or Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World have been eagerly anticipating the animated version of this “revenge fantasy” story from author Rui Tsukiyo. Now, some major details have been announced for the anime, most notably the fact that it’s set to premiere in 2021.
The official website for the Redo of Healer anime confirmed that the series is set to hit television sometime in 2021, though a specific broadcast date has yet to be revealed. News of the 2021 premiere came alongside a debut visual for the anime, showing off some of the main cast. Voice actors for these characters and a few other main cast members have been revealed, and the cast list includes:
- Yūya Hozumi as Keyarga
- Ayano Shibuya as Freya
- Shizuka Ishigami as Setsuna
- Natsumi Takamori as Eve
- Minami Tsuda as Norn
- Natsuki Aikawa as Kureha
For the anime adaptation of Redo of Healer, production is being handled by the studio TNK. It’ll be directed there by veteran director Takuya Asaoka, who fans might recognize as an episode director on Senran Kagura Shinovi Master and the recently aired Kandagawa Jet Girls. Scriptwriting and supervision will be handled by the talented Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, who previously worked on Girls’ Last Tour and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Junji Goto will be handling character design for the series, and you might recognize his work if you’re a fan of the art in High School DxD or Senran Kagura Shinovi Master.
Before working on Redo of Healer, Rui Tsukiyo previously created and published the story Maō-sama no Machizukuri in the publication Shōsetsuka ni Narō, where it ran from June 2016 to March 2018. In December 2016, SB Creative started publishing the story in physical novel form with illustrations provided by Takahiro Tsurusaki. The eighth volume of the story shipped on June 14th of 2019. Hideaki Yoshikawa also started a manga adaptation of the series on Overlap’s Comic Gardo website back in March of 2018, with the second physical volume of the manga being released on May 25th of 2019. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed that manga for overseas release, and released the first volume on January 7th, 2020, under the name “Dungeon Builder: The Demon King’s Labyrinth is a Modern City!”
