It may be hard to remember, what with everything going on in the world right now, but there’s a new season of anime premiering next month. It might be a little muddled by the reshuffled and postponed broadcasts of current shows like Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater and Gal & Dino, or suddenly delayed major premieres like season two of Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World-. Regardless, July is the time for plenty of exciting new anime adaptations. One such series is the anime version of Ryoma Kitada’s Dokyū Hentai HxEros, an appropriately named story about fighting evil aliens with the power of your erotic energy.
You read that right. Our heroes in Dokyū Hentai HxEros use the power of ecchi and eroticism to fight libido-sapping extraterrestrials. Here’s a full synopsis of the insane story via MyAnimeList:
In a world on the verge of a great disaster that began five years ago, heroes who, with the help of a device called HxEros, use the power of Ecchi (H) and erotic power (Ero) to save the planet from libido-devouring monsters!
Enjou Retto and Hoshino Kirara are childhood friends who have drifted apart from each other. One day, they’re caught in a battle against a “Censor Bug” that feeds on human’s sexual energy to evolve. After successfully taking down the enemy, they join a group of heroes like them, using the erotic power of the HxEROS force to fight off monsters.
Dokyū Hentai HxEros is set to premiere in Japan on July 3rd on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and AT-X. Those broadcasts will be followed up by an MBS premiere on July 4th and a TV Aichi premiere on July 6th.
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, who voices protagonist Retta Enjo, will be teaming up with Japanese rock band BURNOUT SYNDROMES to perform the theme song for Dokyū Hentai HxEros as the special vocal unit HXEROS SYNDROMES. The song is titled “Wake Up Hx ERO! feat. Retto Enjō (Matsuoka Yoshitsugu).” Ai Kakuma, the voice of secondary series star Kirara Hoshino, will perform the ending song “lost emotion” as Kirara.

Dokyū Hentai HxEros is being produced at project No.9 and directed by Masato Jinbo, who previously worked on Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei!. Jinbo is joined by character designer Akitomo Yamamoto, who was previously the sub-character designer and chief animation director of The Girl in Twilight. Jinbo is also in charge of overseeing the series scripts.
