Get Ready for a Revenge Obsessed Healer with Redo of Healer

Fans of dark fantasy anime like The Rising of Shield Hero are in for a treat. It’s been officially confirmed that Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi: Sokushi Mahō to Skill Copy no Chōetsu Heal, or simply Redo of Healer, has been greenlit for an anime adaptation.

Created by Rui Tsukiyo, the dark power-fantasy revenge story, cheekily called a “revenge fantasy” story by some, focuses on a healer named Keyar in a traditional fantasy world. He’s a skilled healing mage, but is often used and taken advantage of by his fellow warriors and adventurers because nobody respects healers. They know that he can’t fight on his own as a simple healer, which leads to years of torment and abuse for him. One day, though, Keyar manages to obtain the ultimate healing magic ability thanks to his discovery of the Philosopher’s stone. He uses it to single-handedly defeat the demon king, and grows even stronger. He decides to use his ultimate abilities to “heal” the world itself, and ends up transporting himself four years back in time in order to redo his life and get revenge on everyone who ever wronged him.

The original Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi: Sokushi Mahō to Skill Copy no Chōetsu Heal (Redo of Healer) story was created by Rui Tsukiyo, and it originally began it’s life with serialization on the “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” (Let’s Become Novelists) website back in December of 2016. It’s currently still running there today, in fact. On top of a lengthy Internet novel run, Kadokawa began publishing the story in print editions that feature art by Shiokonbu in July of 2017. The sixth and latest volume was published on July 1st, with the print series currently having over 800,000 copies in print. On top of a printed light novel run, Sōken Haga started a manga adaptation of the series back in October of 2017 on Kadokawa’s Young Ace Up manga website. The manga currently has four published volumes, with the latest having been released on July 4th.

For the tv anime adaptation of Redo of Healer, production is being handled by the studio TNK. It’ll be directed there by veteran director Takuya Asaoka, who fans might recognize as an episode director on Senran Kagura Shinovi Master and the currently airing Kandagawa Jet Girls. Scriptwriting and supervision will be handled by the talented Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, who previously worked on Girls’ Last Tour and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Junji Goto will be handling character design for the series, and you might recognize his work if you’re a fan of the art in High School DxD or Senran Kagura Shinovi Master.

Before working on Redo of Healer, Rui Tsukiyo previously created and published the story Maō-sama no Machizukuri in the publication Shōsetsuka ni Narō, where it ran from June 2016 to March 2018. In December 2016, SB Creative eventually started publishing the story in physical novel form with illustrations provided by Takahiro Tsurusaki. The eighth volume of the story shipped on June 14. Hideaki Yoshikawa also started a manga adaptation of the series on Overlap’s Comic Gardo website back in March of 2018, with the second physical volume of the manga being released on May 25th. Seven Seas Entertainment actually licensed that manga for overseas release, scheduling the first volume to launch on January 7th, 2020 under the name “Dungeon Builder: The Demon King’s Labyrinth is a Modern City!“
