There are many reasons why all of us were called to become anime fans, different routes we all took that lead us to where we are today. Sometimes it’s fun to ask, “Why do you watch anime?” and try to sum that up in a single anime image. I asked J-List’s Twitter and Facebook fans, and they came through awesomely as always!

Some of us watch anime for small but important reasons, such as boob jiggle physics.
One J-List follower said, “For the lewdness to the cuteness, for the action and the feels, from the mundane to the insane, to the wide variety of interesting things in anime that offers so much wonder and entertainment.”
Another fan watches anime because of adorable moments like this. In a world where we’re often too stressed out from our jobs to find something good about every day, anime can help us access strong emotions through fictional stories.
Anime is an escape for many of us. When we’re tired, we just want to relax with an 800-year-old fox deity who will pamper us.
Another reader summed up anime excellently: “Cute characters, engaging stories, maybe some panties.”
Some of us watch anime for the waifus, which can be very enjoyable, too.
Having an engaging story is always a welcome thing, but sometimes just having “plot” is enough.
The isekai genre can be especially relaxing, and watching a 37-year-old Japanese salaryman get reincarnated as a smile where he gets surrounded by elf boobs is the best.
When we’re feeling hot, anime is always there to cool us down with a nice breeze.
Fanservice-heavy anime are always a fun way to take our troubles off whatever’s happening in the world.
Sometimes anime can open our minds to entirely new experiences. That’s a good thing.
We’ve got awesome otokonoko products in stock, including a legendary Astolfo product for you!
Harem anime are always relaxing to watch, and it’s fun to debate which girl the main character will end up within the end.
Some of us watch anime beacuse, well, it’s so damned funny. The principal-vs-deer battle in Nichijou was unforgettable. pic.twitter.com/4o4LBWdKVl

Comedy anime can be hilarious to watch. One of the freshes and best-executed was Nichjou, which can still have be rolling on the floor.
Why do you watch anime? Sometimes it’s because of the manly mecha battles, which allow us to pretend we’re piloting a Mobile Suit.
For many of us, this journey started in the early 1980s with Super Dimension Fortress Macross, aka Robotech. Our world would never be the same.
As anime creators got even better at telling big, audacious stories, the stories became even more uplifting for us fans.
Instead of mecha battles, sometimes all we want are cute stories about characters help each other solve their problems, and giving head pats.
In the end, we watch anime because it offers a place filled with interesting and adorable characters who we become more emotionally connected with than characters in other forms of media.
