There’s been a lot of frustration on X / Twitter lately, as an on-again, off-again bug has been causing many of J-List’s posts to be hidden with a message saying, “The post author flagged this post as showing sensitive content.” Let’s explore why Twitter has been a frustrating place lately…and why we still love it for all its faults.

Twitter Hiding Non-Sensitive Posts
Over the past few months, I sometimes found some or all of my posts to the official J-List X account hidden with the content warning, although I’d never clicked any button to flag posts. Usually, the problem would go away in a few hours. Then yesterday, every post had the content warning all day long. I toggled my own account settings off and on again, and the problem seemed to improve, though some followers reported all images disappeared entirely.
J-List posts some sexy content, often with animated boobs or panties. Once a day we do a “random ecchi anime” post highlighting popular sexy anime from years gone by, which our followers enjoy. We don’t post actual porn or hentai unless it’s cropped or edited to be funny. But we love all aspects of Japanese pop culture, including sexy anime, manga and games, and are happy to have X as the last place on the Internet where we can share images of bouncing anime boobs or pantyshots.
In addition to sexy content, we also post normal figures that we’ve got available in our online store. But it was frustrating for everyone to have normal Nendoroid figures being censored as if they were sensitive content. Come on, Elon, fix this stupid bug!
How to Fix the Sensitive Content Bug
The bug, which comes and goes, seems to happen when viewing the Twitter site on normal web browsers, not in the official X apps on iOS, Android, Mac or Windows. If you do find the problem is happening, try toggling your settings for “Display media that may contain sensitive content” off and on again (inside Settings and Privacy -> Privacy and Safety -> Content you See). You should also check “Search settings” and check it, if you want to search through our posts.
There are other fixes, too. If you’re using Google Chrome and don’t mind installing a plugin, here’s a discussion I found on Reddit that might help some users. (This works for normal posts in your feed, not in the media tab.) If you’re on Firefox, here’s an option that might help.
Another Twitter Frustration: Lots of Spam
Another frustrating area over in Twitter land has been the spambots that have been posting “N U D E S I N B I O” or ” P U S S Y I N P R O F I L E” as comments in my posts. I go through and report/block the accounts every day, but it’s got to be frustrating for our followers who just want to react to sexy posts or give their thoughts on our latest blog post.
Why Do We Still Support X despite All the Problems?
It’s the Most Free and Open Social Media Platform
While posting an anime pantyshot to Facebook or Instagram will get you a 7-day ban or far worse, Twitter is still a place where we can post sexy things without some corporate algo coming down on us. It’s also great because you can post copyrighted video clips or songs without having them auto-removed, as would happen with YouTube. When I’m listening to a really great anime OP and want to geek out with everyone on Twitter, I can post the clip without worry.
Immediate News Delivery is Great
Whenever something happens in the world and I want to read about it immediately, I reach for my smartphone and check out what people are saying. Of course not all news is 100% accurate, and every time I browse I keep in mind that some bad actors might be trying to influence how I view certain topics. But by and large, it’s nice to be able to sample the thoughts of millions of people all over the world easily.
Many Twitter Communities Are Great Places to Hang Out
Everyone knows social media is bad for us, making us compare our lives to fake celebrities and allowing us to be manipulated by certain media outlets that want us to get outraged about this or that. But if you don’t follow any of these trashy people, your experience can be much improved.
Anitwitter is obviously great, and many anime fans follow J-List (or my personal account). I like Fintwitter since you can search for a topic or a stock ticker and instantly get a sense of what people are saying about it. If you’re into discussing sports, looking for cosplayers to follow, or wanting to follow the latest NASA news, then Twitter/X is still a great place to hang out.
