The month of November is filled with lots of silly “good [whatever] day” special events celebrated by Japanese Internet users. November 8th was Good Oppai Day, and November 7th was Good Tummies Day. Today, November 12, has been declared Good Flat Chest Day, a day to celebrate pettanko girls all across the internet. In this blog post, let’s rank the best anime flat chests!
It’s a very special time for us at J-List, because 30 years ago this week, we started the first anime and hentai shop selling to fans around the world. And we’ve been able to make it this far thanks to our wonderful customers. We’re celebrating with a huge 20% sale on all in-stock Japan products, through October 7th. Start browsing now!
Why Does Japan Have a Day to Celebrate Flat-Chested Girls?
Why has November 12 been designated as Good Flat Chest Day in Japan? It all comes down to phonetics. The word for “good” in Japanese is ii (pronounced like the letter E), so the number 11 has come to stand for “good” because it looks like ii. It’s virtually impossible for non-Japanese to understand these phonetic pronunciations of numbers, and I’ve pretty much given up on it myself.
It is interesting to reflect on why anime flat chests are so popular with fans.
- Comedic Tension. There are endless opportunities to create humor when a flat-chested girl finds herself in the middle of well-endowed companions.
- Everyone Loves an Underdog. We naturally root for the A-cup girl to defeat her D-cup rivals in love.
- The Moe Factor. Flat-chested characters are more likely to trigger feelings of protectiveness from fans.
Who Are the Most Popular Anime Flat-Chested Girls?
Let’s rank the top pettanko girls in anime history!
First, we have to celebrate the queen of tsundere, Taiga Aisaka. The episode where she needed to buy a swimsuit to attend swim class with the other students was so much fun to watch. Poor Taiga!
Louise from Zero no Tsukaima is another fiery girl with small boobs, who is naturally surrounded by well-endowed characters who love to show off their chests to her.
Shana from Shakugan no Shana is another popular tsundere who wouldn’t have the same appeal if she didn’t have a lithe build.
More Pettanko Girls to Celebrate on Good Flat Chest Day!
Megumin from Konosuba is another character fans love because of her slender figure. The contrast to the more buxom characters in the show drives the comedy perfectly.
To Love-ru has a lot of fun characters to love, and one of my favorites is Nana Deviluke. She’s flat as an anvil, and extremely jealous of her sister for having bigger boobs than her.
Even More DFC Anime Girls
When you think of flat-chested anime girls, you might think of Misaka Mikoto from the Toaru Majutsu no Index anime. But her more diminutive clone, Last Order, has even her beat in the DFC department!
Then we have the Suminoe sisters from KissxSis, the most perfect ecchi anime there is. Both girls want to claim their not-related-by-blood younger brother Keita for themselves!
Another legendary smol chest girl is Silica from Sword Art Online, because every side character in that show is doomed to have small boobs. Did you have a crush on her back in 2012?
Koneko from High School DxD is another compact heroine we love. The other girls might have bigger chests than her, but she’s got a bigger heart!
Finally, we have the quiet underdog of the Sailor Moon team, Ami Mizuno. Back in the day, fans weren’t obsessing over small boobs, but we all somehow understood that part of Sailor Mercury’s charm came from her modest personality… and her equally modest figure.
