Now it’s time to look ahead to the upcoming season and check out what shows we should watch in the final cour of the year. Keep reading for the J-List Fall 2024 anime guide!

What Anime Should You Watch This Season? Read The Fall 2024 Anime Guide to Find Out!
The upcoming Fall 2024 anime season is going to be another big one. There are a whopping 63 new and continuing series for fans, not counting “eternal” shows like Detective Conan or One Piece. This means we’ll all have to choose carefully or end up missing out on the best of the Fall 2024 anime offerings!
The Return of Re:Zero Is upon Us!
I’m happy to see the long-awaited return of Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World-, one of the most popular isekai genre shows. And yet…when I think of an anime with a story that’s all over the map, without any organization or structure, I generally think of this show. Let’s hope the new season has many meme-worthy moments for us to share!
What About the Ranma ½ Reboot?
With the successful reboot of Urusei Yatsura, could Ranma ½ be far behind? As a huge fan of the original, I’ll certainly be tuning in…though it’s a given that we won’t get the level of sexy fan service that helped define what anime was capable of for so many new fans in the late 1980s. Here’s hoping that the show can be a success in 2024!
Uzumaki: Spiral Into Horror
October wouldn’t be October without some horror anime. This season we’ve got a fun horror anime to check out in Uzumaki: Spiral Into Horror, based on the manga by Junji Ito.

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Season V
Is it wrong for an anime to get season after endless season? While many series fail to get continuations despite loud support from fans, other anime shows keep going forever, like the Energizer Bunny. One of these shows is Danmachi, a fantasy series that will probably still be getting new seasons long after you and I have gone to that great anime convention in the sky. Is it because fans keep supporting the show by buying all these delightful figures?
Gun Gale Online II and Arifureta Season 3
We’ve got even more continuing anime seasons for you, which may or may not be met with excitement by fans. The SAO spinoff Gun Gale Online is continuing after six years because Sony can’t avoid coming back to something that made them money before. We’re also getting a season of Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest…but did anyone watch season 2? There’s even more Houkago Shounen Hanako-kun coming. Every anime is getting new seasons! (Except for the ones fans actually want to see.)
More Fall 2024 Anime! MF Ghost 2nd Season
Of course, one show I’m super happy to see more of is MF Ghost, the continuation of the glorious Initial D anime. I was really on board with the first season of this anime. The combination of fast cars, updated technology, the racing-with-narration mechanic, and shout-outs to the original series made every episode fun to watch. Of course, I don’t mind all the sexy “backstory” they added, either.
Isekai Anime for Single People!
Every new anime season brings various isekai and related offerings, which are generally aimed at male or female fans. One for guys is Loner Life In Another World. It’s about Haruka, a shy youth who gets teleported to a fantasy world where he’s given only the weakest skills. (I bet you didn’t see that plot twist coming!) For girls, we have The Do-Over Damsel Conquers The Dragon Emperor. It follows Jill, a princess who gets betrayed and executed…until she wakes up in her body, but six years in the past. She now has the chance to redo her life and hopefully avoid the “bad end” she got the first time around!
Office Romance with Kekkon suru tte, Hontou desu ka?
Being a card-carrying fan of romance anime, I’m always on the lookout for a new show that will send fans’ hearts soaring. One show I’ll be watching is 365 Days to the Wedding. Takuya and Rika work together in a travel agency in Tokyo, and they’re both living happy single, introverted lives. When their company announces that one of the non-married employees will be transferred to Siberia, Rika suggests to Takuya that they pretend to get engaged so they can both get out of the assignment. I wonder what will happen next?
Which Girl Will You Choose? Amagami-san Chi no Enmusubi
Uryuu needs a place to live, and finally finds a home at a famous Shinto shrine. The catch is that he must agree to marry one of the three Amagami Shrine Maidens. It features Sumire Uesaka (the voice of Nagatoro), so I’ll be watching!
Ao no Hako: Blue Box
Another anime about people half one-third my age, playing sports and falling in love? Sure, why not? Taiki is a third-year student on the school’s badminton team, and he’s got a crush on Chinatsu, a first-year who’s the rising star of the basketball team. Taki’s life becomes even more complicated when Chinatsu ends up living at his house!
Kimi wa Meido-sama.
Ah, the masculine urge to wish for a super-strong maid to protect us from danger. In You Are Ms. Servant, high school student Hitoyoshi gets a knock on his door, and meets a girl who offers to become his maid. Although she lacks any actual household skills, she’s a trained assassin. That’s got to come in handy!
Beastars Final Season
Finally, the final season of one of my favorite anime: BEASTARS. It’s the story of a Zootopia-esque world in which herbivores and carnivores live side by side, and it tackles the difficult questions that would exist in a society like that. What legal structures need to be created to ensure that carnivores don’t eat herbivores, destabilizing society? What kinds of sexual tension might exist in a world like this? I loved the first two seasons, and hope you’ll be checking out the final season with me.
