Ten Anime Songs To Wash Your Hands To!

It’s a unique time for the world, as most of us are being asked to assist the recovery of the COVID-19 coronavirus by avoiding public places and generally staying home as much as we can, as we all cope with the crisis. Yes, for the first time in history we can literally save the world by staying home, watching anime and playing video games to our heart’s content. And wash our hands, of course! So I thought I’d do a post with ten great anime songs to wash your hands to so we can all stay healthy!

Wash Your Hands Re Zero

The Japanese Love to Wash Their Hands

When I first came to Japan in 1991, it was inevitable that I encounter some culture shock. One thing that impressed me was how clean and hygienic the people I encountered were, washing their hands properly after eating or using the bathroom, brushing their teeth three times a day, and washing their faces in the morning and night. I don’t think I’ve ever washed my face in my life, although I slather some soap on it while in the shower if I remember to.

So let’s all imitate the Japanese and be more hygienic, cleaning any surfaces someone has touched with alcohol-based cleaner and being sure to wash our hands for 20 seconds or more. And to make sure we do a good job, let’s sing!

Ten Anime Songs to Wash Your Hands To

Naturally we should start with the most popular anime song ever, according to how often it’s sung at karaoke boxes in Japan, Cruel Angel’s Thesis from Evangelion.

The opening to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 5 is a fun song to sing. This version is the normal song, but here’s a karaoke version with lyrics. You can find karaoke versions of just about any song by searching for YouTube, which is awesome for parties…which you shouldn’t be doing right now.

Why not use the crisis to up those Dragon Ball Z singing skills?

If you want to annoy people nearby you by singing a song that will get stuck in their heads, why not go with Renai Circulation? If you obsess over Kana Hanazawa as much as we do, watch her beer commercial here.

If you’re a Monogatari fan, you’re probably a fan of Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari, and thus a person of culture. The song with lyrics is above, and you can find the hard-to-find-online “sequel” to this song here.

Hell Girl was another outstanding show that provided us lots of entertainment, and the first OP is great. Here’s a karaoke version.

AnoHana is a legendary anime that’d be great to re-watch during the “Corona holidays.” Lyrics version here.

Being an old school fan, I’ve been on an 80s anime kick, re-watching the legendary Macross 1984 Do You Remember Love? film. Lyrics are here.

The J-List staff knows that I can’t go to karaoke without singing God Knows from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. A version with lyrics is here.

If your Latin is up to it, how about going for the Elfin Lied OP? Lyrics version here.
