As an anime blogger, I often find myself defending the industry from stereotypes. When fans complain that “all” anime shows have become harems, isekai trash or populated by moe-blobs, I point out how only a few series each season fall under these categories, and that confirmation bias makes these genres appear more common than they actually are. But if you were to suggest that anime has gotten really ecchi this season, even I’d have trouble disagreeing with you. In fact, I believe the current batch of new shows is the most perverted anime season ever.
Of course, ecchi scenes in anime aren’t new — anime fanservice been around since forever — and not all anime series engage in it. Most shows have no fanservice at all, or perhaps a single panty shot in the first episode to catch fans’ attention. Shows that base their entire existence around sexy scenes usually aren’t in the majority, but this season…they kind of are. Let’s look at some of them!

Sounan Desu Ka?, or Four Girls Trapped On a Desert Island Making Sex Jokes. It’s great fun, and might teach you how to survive on a desert island.
Okaa-san Online, aka Thicc MILF Mommy Online, has been a source of entertainment for a lot of us. The funny thing is, it’s a better trapped-in-an-isekai-game-universe than 90% of the shows it’s parodying.
Tejina-Sempai, aka Magical Senpai, is basically Dagashi Kashi but with magic tricks instead of old-timey Japanese candy from the Showa Period. I’m enjoying it a lot, but then I clearly have bad taste.
HenSuki, or Are You Willing to Fall in Love with a Pervert, as Long as She’s a Cutie? When high school boy Keiki receives a love letter accompanied by a pair of panties, he’s elated — now he can finally get a girlfriend! But which of the perverted girls around him send the letter? It’s not an ecchi show, it’s a mystery anime!
Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo, aka Maidens of the Savage Season. A genius anime about five girls in the school literature club who become hyper-sensitized towards sex by reading steamy literature novels. One by one, each girl is driven mad with curiosity to know about “that” (sex). A hilarious and adorable show that broaches themes we all grapple with at that age, it’s highly recommended. Just don’t watch it with your parents in the room.
Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru?, or How Many Kilograms are the Dumbbells You Lift? Cute busty girls teaching us how to lift weights and become swole otakus so we can do Jojo cosplay. Pretty much the best thing ever.
DanMachi season 2. Compared to the other steamy offerings this season, the jiggling boobs of Hestia from the long-awaited season of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? are almost quaint, and barely warrant inclusion in the list of most perverted anime this season.
