As I wrote a couple weeks ago, the month of November is loaded with “good [whatever] days” because the number 11 can be read as いい ii (good). Hence we have Nice Boobs Day on the 8th, Happy Married Couple’s Day on the 22nd, and on the 30th, Good Butt Day, because it’s the final day (the “ass”) of November. Because “23” can be read as “nii-san,” Saturday has been designated as Good Older Brother Day, a day to treasure our older brothers who do so much to guide and protect us. Let’s look at the best anime onii-san characters, with the help of J-List’s
I see that Saturday, November 23, is #いいお兄さんの日 or Good Older Brother Day. Let’s post the best, the most loyal, anime older brothers! pic.twitter.com/RYISfaxsVp

Taihei Doma. Older brother to Umaru-chan, he’s always putting up with her crap without getting angry, and working to guide her in life. I wish he’d notice Ebina’s feelings for him already.
Touya Kinomoto. Perhaps one of the first classic “anime onii-san” characters many fans experienced, he’s super tall and handsome, and always dedicated to his younger sister.
Lelouch Lamperouge. He’ll do anything for his blind younger sister Nunnally, even conquer the world.
Edward Elric. All he wants to do is find a way to turn his younger brother Alphonse human again. That’s so sweet.
Tatsuya Uesugi. All his life, older brother Tatsuya stood in the shadow of his younger brother Kazuya, who was super good at baseball. When Kazuya is killed in a traffic accident, Tatsuya puts on his younger brother’s uniform so he can take his school, and Minami-chan, to the famous Koshien Baseball Championship.
Sakuta Azusagawa. One of the best series of 2018, Bunny Girl Senpai was about a main character who had to solve the supernatural problems of several girls around him so he could get back to dating his kuudere girlfriend with long hair (no, not that one). One of the most touching arcs was him helping his younger sister Kaede make progress in curing her social anxiety and agoraphobia. One of the most dedicated anime onii-san characters we can think of.
Kodaka Hasegawa. Another classic anime onii-chan who has a lot of weirdness to put up with, and does his best every day.
Kamina. An onii-chan doesn’t have to be related by blood: the term can be used for anyone who’s in the role of a close mentor to another character. None were quite as inspiring as Simon’s aniki.
Yuu Otosaka. Often an older brother is defined by tragedy. Yuu doted on his pizza sauce-loving younger sister Ayumi, but when she became the thing she loved, he was devastated. His journey out of depression and to a better place was one of the most amazing episodes of Charlotte.
Sora from No Game No Life. Always a helpful and inspiring older brother, he’s pretty much the coolest anime onii-san I can think of.
Sora Kasugano. The brother from Yosuga no Sora, who is always full of love for his sister Haruka. Perhaps too much, but who are we to judge?
