One thing I love about anime is the way anything that can be conceived of can be shown easily on the screen. This leads to many interesting future technologies to be invented and presented to viewers for their consideration. I asked J-List’s Twitter followers what anime technologies they wish they had in real life, and here’s the list we came up with!
What technology or invention from anime would you like to see in real life? Sauce is Ueno-san wa Bukiyou. pic.twitter.com/xSsSmt8bph

Of course the first thing most of us would want would be real Gundams to pilot around. I think I’d like one of the Type 100 models from Zeta Gundam.
NerveGear from Sword Art Online
It would be cool to have a virtual world to hang out in. Hopefully minus the “if you log out, you die” sub-plot.
Persocoms from Chobits
A future where the concept of a “personal computer” has become cute robotic girls, complete with serial numbers in delicate places. Or if we couldn’t have persocoms, maybe we could have…
Giftia From Plastic Memories
…the next best thing, which would be Giftia android girls to keep us company. The only downside is that pesky lifespan of nine years and four months.
See-Through Glasses from To Love-Ru
Glasses that let you see girls in their underwear could come in very handy and lead to a lot of nosebleeds.
Anywhere Door from Doraemon
Doraemon is a “cat-type robot from the future” who hangs out with his lazy friend Nobita. Doraemon has several useful devices with him, including his Take-copter (allowing him to fly anywhere) and his 4D Pocket, which can produce any device he may happen to need. But the best one would be his Dokodemo Door, which can take him anywhere in the universe instantly.
Jigaspats from How Clumsy you are, Miss Ueno
Ueno-san Wa Bukiyou is the story of a “perverted science girl” (are there any un-perverted ones?) who’s always trying to catch the eye of Tanaka, her fellow science club member, using bizarre inventions. One of them is a phone charger that works when Tanaka rubs her thighs vigorously.
Pokeballs from Pokemon
The world would be a much better place if we could all resolve our differences with Pokemon battles.
Passion Panties from Arcade Gamer Fubuki
Here’s one even I didn’t know about: special panties that make you good at video games!
Stands from Jojo
A magical being that you can summon to fight for you instantly? That would be epic. What would your Stand name be?
Phone Microwave (Name Subject to Change) from Steins;Gate
One of the most useful anime technologies. You could send messages to yourself and correct all your life’s errors before they happened. I’m sure nothing bad would come from this at all!
Genetically Engineered Catgirls
Topping the list of anime technologies we need in our lives is, of course, genetically engineered catgirls. We could give them head pats and other stuff.
