I’ve been trying (and mostly failing) to keep up with the shows I want to watch in the new anime season which started a few weeks ago. One show I’m liking so far is called No Game No Life, the story of a bother-and-sister online gaming duo called “_____” (pronounced 空白 kuuhaku or “blank space”) who are famous for being able to defeat any game in the world easily. When older brother Sora and his genius younger sister Shiro express frustration that the world they currently live in is one giant 糞ゲー kuso-geh or “crappy game” that doesn’t present a challenge for their skills, they find themselves whisked away to an alternate world in which everything is determined by various games. The show has plenty of fun references for gamers as well as fans of otaku and N.E.E.T. culture, and I’m definitely liking the fresh approach to the characters so far (especially the “spaz-dere” character, Steph). I will keep watching for sure.
The new anime No Game No Life is quite a lot of fun.
