A quote that stuck with me was what the late Anthony Bourdain said about traveling: “Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts…” Unfortunately, most adventure-oriented anime tend to avoid this reality. However, Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina doesn’t. Gleefully showing how fun real traveling can be, and how one’s demeanor plays into it, the show quickly racked up accolades. Because of that, Elaina quickly became a waifu plenty were smitten with. And those infatuated with her can rejoice as FuRyu’s Elaina Knit One-Piece Dress figure brings out the traveling heroine’s kawaii side. Depicting the Ashen Witch in a playfully candid pose, this figure retails at $140 (currently on sale for $120). It’s an affordable addition to any anime figure collection.
FuRyu’s Elaina Knit One-Piece Dress Figure — O Kawaii Koto
Did you know that most anime figures start as clay? The more skilled the sculptor who works on the prototype is, the more detailed the figure is. Renowned sculptor Moineau made the prototype for this figure, so you can be sure its quality is ethereal. The knitting on Elaina’s figure is so finely detailed that at first glance you’d believe it’s actually wool. The detailing on the outfit is spectacular, from the interwoven braids of her sweater to the black lace sleeve inlays,.
It amazes me how a simple detail can change how we interpret something. Elaina’s finger grazing her cheek changes her demeanor from timid to mischievous. Because of that, Elaina’s expression artfully conveys her impish side instead of making her look bashful. You can sense her innate mischief when you view this figure from behind, the side, or the top. It’s that appealing.
We stock plenty of figures with elaborate bases and backdrops here at J-List. Yet, this figure proves “less is more.” The Elaina Knit One-Piece Dress figure’s minimal base places all the focus on Elaina and her outfit. Since the outfit passes as loungewear (and you get a peek at her shorts), the figure has a casual vibe. And casual, candid vibes are something you don’t get from hyper-detailed figures. Shinano Zen perfectly recreated the soft colors of Elaina’s hair, eyes, and complexion. And we should praise that because it’s difficult to eloquently recreate. The Elaina Knit One-Piece Dress Figure 1/7 scale figure sits at 5.9” (15 cm). Order her here, and you’ll get 240 reward points for it.
What’s Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina About?
Majo no Tabitabi follows Elaina, a bibliophile who develops morbid wanderlust after reading the tales of Nike, a traveling witch. Worried about her safety, her family sets the condition that should she want to venture into the unknown, she has to prove herself as capable as Nike. Driven by her desire to explore unknown lands, delight in exotic foods, and see how far the sky stretches, Elaina quickly becomes a capable witch. And after she’s given the moniker of “Ashen Witch,” she sets off on her journey.
Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina is written by Jougi Shraishi (illustrated by Azure). Studio C2C animated its Fall 2020, 12-episode TV adaptation.
