Have you ever wanted to have a relationship with a beautiful lamia? If so, go ahead and skip the rest of this paragraph—you already know why they’re amazing. For the rest of you, lamia are half-serpent, half-human creatures who want to be powerful and have equally powerful mates. To do so, according to Greek mythology, a lamia was known to seduce potential lovers while they slept. While the “sleeping” part doesn’t really happen here, let’s focus more on the “seduce” side of this conversation. To do this, lamia used both their long tails and their long tongues to satisfy their partners’ carnal desires. Is that not enough? What if I told you that this particular lamia is also a tsundere that you promised to marry a long time ago after you both became better-looking? That, my friends, is the premise of Mamono Musume – Life with a Lamia, which is now available for pre-order on J-List with the physical edition and the digital edition on JAST USA!
Originally released in 2009 by Vanadis, Mamono Musume puts you in the shoes of Light, a man who makes a modest living off the land and is otherwise relatively happy. From time to time, Light dreams about his first love, a human girl named Leimia Hyugieia. When they were much younger, they promised to each other that once they both grew up and were more beautiful/handsome, they would get married. Light never expected her to show up out of the blue while he was working in his fields, and, more importantly, it seemed that he had totally forgotten about the fact that, well, her lower half was a long tail! Leimia has shown up to make good on their promise all those years ago, and she’s not very willing to take no for an answer!
Leimia is your classic tsundere. She definitely doesn’t love you, definitely doesn’t want to marry you. Nope, not at all. Except, you know, she is definitely more than willing to show you how much she wants you by using both of her very serpentine features—her tail, and her tongue. For those of you who are into oral scenes, Mamono Musume has them in spades. In fact, I can’t say I’ve seen a game with as many oral-focused scenes like this one (not that I’m complaining, of course!), and each of them adds a new twist to the last. And the action starts early on—you’re not going to be waiting long at all. And, as usual, the uncensored artwork, done by the very talented Bubuzuke, is well done and looks realistic. I’d love to see more of his work come to the West, and I hope you all agree!
Another interesting part of this game is the “Game Over” system, which isn’t an actual game over in that it takes you back to the main menu, but it makes you consider your choices a bit more thoroughly. Sometimes you need to be upfront and go in guns blazin’, while other times you may need to think longer about your choices. Of course, if you make the wrong choice, you’ll get berated by your lovely lamia and get taken back to safety. It’s worth checking out all the fourth-wall breaking scenes the game has to offer.
Mamono Musume is now available for pre-order. Be sure to check it out!
