A girl leaves her hardcore gaming life behind to become a proper young lady. She feels out of place because her classmates all come from wealthy families. Her plans seem derailed when she meets a popular girl with a ladylike aura. Her new idol was surprisingly a hardcore, trash-talking girl with an unladylike hobby. We’ll see what happens with this fateful meeting when Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games (Tai-Ari deshita.: Ojosama wa Kakutou Game nante Shinai) premieres sometime in 2025.
Eri Ejima released the original Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games manga series on January 4th, 2020. Media Factory has since published eight volumes in Monthly Comic Flapper.

The two gamer girls are as follows:
- Aya Mitsuki — Ikumi Hasegawa (Ciel from Tsukihime). A retired fighting gamer who enrolled in Kuromi Girls’ Academy to become a proper young lady.
- Mio Yorue — Kana Ichinose (Suletta Mercury from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury). An idol of Kuromi Girls’ Academy who hides her love of fighting games.
Studio Diomedéa has maintained a home page and a Twitter/X page to promote Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games. You can find additional series information and the Key Visuals there.
Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games — They Dominate Fighting Games
Aya Mitsuki dreams of becoming a proper young lady. She earned a scholarship to attend the prestigious Kuromi Girls’ Academy, the one place that could help her along. Aya works to hide her humble upbringing and fit in with the wealthy academy students, especially the girls in her Chrysanths class. Her plan quickly derailed when she had a fateful meeting with Mio Yorue, the famous “Shirayuri-sama” from the Orchid class.

Aya quickly discovers that Mio isn’t the pure maiden everyone believes her to be. A stream of trash talk after wrecking an opponent in a Street Fighter 6 (Iron Senpai 4 in the manga) match. Rules forbid video games on school grounds, so Mio begs Aya not to tell anyone about her gaming habits. Mio quickly deduced that Aya is a gamer, too; the tell-tale callouses on her hands from using an arcade controller and knowing the game title just from the sound effects gave her away. Aya comes out of retirement to take Mio on.
