Fans of yakuza comedies are going to absolutely fall in love with the upcoming 2022 series, The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting!
Earlier in 2021, a new manga subscription service launched in the west called Azuki. I joined the service almost right away and one series I found on the service that I absolutely loved from the beginning is The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting from author Tsukiya. In this series, the main character is a high-ranking member of the Sakuragi crime family and has been entrusted with his most dangerous mission yet: serve as the babysitter for the head of the family’s only daughter.
According to a recent report, we can now confirm a few details regarding the upcoming series, including the primary cast and crew!
Starting things off, the series will feature animation jointly produced by studios feel. and GAINA, with Itsuro Kawasaki serving as the director. He’ll be working off series composition created by Keiichiro Ochi and character designs adapted for anime by Hiromi Ogata. Takuro Iga will compose the background music.
In terms of the primary cast, we can also confirm that the voices you heard in the video embedded above will return to voice the main characters; Yoshimasa Hosoya and Misaka Watada as Tooru and Yaeka, respectively.
Starting on the Comic Ride website back in 2018, they eventually transferred Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting to Comic Elmo in May 2020 before being licensed for an English release by Kaiten Books. The series is up to six volumes in Japan as of September 2021.
As I’ve mentioned publicly before, this series is a laugh riot from start to finish. If you’ve never checked out Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting before, I can only highly recommend it for those who are looking for some light-hearted laughs. While yakuza characters might be a common trend in eastern entertainment these days, this story is anything but!
