Toei has presented a “wonderful” follow-up to Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure. The newest entry in the long-running magical girl series is Wonderful PreCure! (Wandafuru Purikyua!). The theme of bonds — and the animal motif — are apparent right from the start. Cute animal pets transform into PreCures to protect their friend from evil monsters. We’ll see how these animal girl PreCures and their human friend (who is also a PreCure) do in battle when the series premieres on February 4th, 2024. Until then, we can enjoy the new trailer and the opening and ending themes video.
Izumi Todo and Bandai created the Pretty Cure franchise in 2006 with Futari wa Pretty Cure. It’s important to note that “Izumi Todo” is a collective pen name employed by television producers at Toei Animation.
Two of our new PreCures are as follows:
- Iroha Inukai / Cure Friendy — Atsumi Tanezaki (Frieren from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End). Animals adore Iroha, a friendly girl. She is Komugi’s owner. Her catchphrase is “Wonderful.”
- Komugi Inukai / Cure Wonderful — Maria Naganawa (Komekko from KonoSuba). Iroha’s pet Papillon dog transformed into a human to protect her owner. Komugi enjoys copying Iroha’s catchphrase.

To Protect Animals and Humans Alike, Wonderful PreCure!
Wonderful PreCure! is set in Animal Town, a delightful place where humans and animals live together in perfect harmony. Iroha — adored by almost any animal — owns a pet Papillon dog named Komugi. Their idyllic life suddenly halted during one of Komugi’s walks. A dark beast known as a Garugaru attacked them from out of nowhere. Komugi’s love and protective instinct tapped into the power of the Kirarin Animals to transform herself into Cure Wonderful, a powerful magical girl.
Iroha herself would become Cure Friendy to help Komugi fight these creatures. Cures Nyammy and Lillian would soon join them to round off their team. The new Pretty Cure team will assemble to save their town!
