Every witch needs a familiar in her life. Nico chose her ogre of a childhood friend to accompany her through life. Morihito is initially against this, no matter how cute and powerful she is. However, a curse would turn him into a monster should he refuse a witch’s order. Rather than witch and familiar, these two would stand as equals and maybe even more. We’ll see them get much closer when Witch Watch Cour 2 premieres on July 6th, 2025.
Kenta Shinohara (Sket Dance) released the original Witch Watch manga series on February 8th, 2021. Shueisha has published 21 volumes in Weekly Shonen Jump. Bibury Animation Studios’ anime adaptation premiered on April 6th, 2025.
The watch-worthy witch, her familiar, and another witch we need to watch are as follows:
- Nico Wakatsuki — Rina Kawaguchi (Celty Srowa from Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Girls in a Dungeon?). A witch who recently completed her training. She moves in with Morihito for her protection.
- Morihito Otogi — Ryota Suzuki (Third One for All from My Hero Academia). Nico’s childhood friend and her familiar. He possesses the superhuman strength of an ogre.
- Nemu Miyao — Tomori Kusunoki (Makima from Chainsaw Man). A witch from a prestigious magical family. She specializes in transformation magic.

Witch Watch and the Foreseen Disaster
Nico Wakatsuki is famously known as the Witch of Thousand thanks to her prodigious magical talents. Her mother, Ibuki the Witch of Premonition, has foreseen a disaster befalling her. As such, Ibuki left Nico in the care of the Otogi family. Nico and their son Morihito have been good friends since childhood. She’ll be safe with them; the Otogi are all powerful ogres in human form.
Morihito was initially against becoming Nico’s familiar. He didn’t want to be her servant, after all. However, a curse would turn him into a cow-tiger hybrid if he ever refused a witch’s order. He fell in line and began acting as Nico’s protector. Morihito has trained in his family’s ways, and few could stand against his imposing strength. Various complications may still get in the way of their budding romantic feelings.
