Reborn as a Side Character in a Novel
Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion follows the relatively short story of Park Eun-ha, a college applicant from Korea. She suddenly died and awakened as Raeliana McMillan, the daughter of a Baron from a novel that Eun-ha had previously read. After enjoying a nice conversation with a stranger that she can’t even remember, Eun-ha received a text message confirming her entrance into her university. This is when the stranger pushed her off the bridge, ending her life in Korea and starting it anew in the world that closely matched the novel titled Kingdom of Charmers.
Park Eun-ha became Raeliana McMillan (voiced by Yume Miyamoto), a girl whose father’s successful oil business earned him the title of Baron, making their family nouveaux riche (French: “new rich”). While things seem to be looking up for Raeliana, Eun-ha knows how the story turns out: Raeliana is a side character, more of a plot device than anything to draw the main female lead back to town, in a story titled “The Case of the Murdered Friend,“ wherein Raeliana is the titular friend.
However, Eun-ha doesn’t intend to suffer the same fate twice and be poisoned to death by her own betrothed, Francis Brooks. She decided to change the story entirely and approach the male lead of the novel, the vieux riche (French: “old rich”) Duke Noah Volstaire Wynknight (voiced by Yuichiro Umehara). Using her knowledge of the future, she bargained with Noah to pretend to be her fiancé to avert her fate. However, things might get more interesting with Noah, who is much more than he seems.
