2025 is the year Japan makes anime ecchi again! Rarely do we have ecchi for ecchi’s sake in anime these days, so I’m always vigilant for potential sexy viewing. Next season, another isekai plot with a ridiculously long title gives me hope and a chance of eye candy. The Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Online Shopper in Another World (アラフォー男の異世界通販, Arafou Otoko no Isekai Tsuuhan) is the version of Campfire Cooking in Another World with more boobs, less cooking, and a furry fetish. But what is Middle-Aged Online Shopper about? And should ecchi fans watch it? Read more about it after you watch the preview trailer.
The Ecchi Blooming Details of Middle-Aged Online Shopper
- What is it about? If you couldn’t tell from the title that doubles as a synopsis, the isekai slice-of-life harem show started on a self-publishing site. It later received a light novel adaptation and a manga adaptation. The anime adapts the manga, so you can compare how pretty the characters are to their manga selves. The Middle-Aged Online Shopper story is simple: a middle-aged man from Japan suddenly finds himself in a world of magic, medieval technology, and dangerous monsters. But he somehow can order items from Earth through an internet shopping portal. He collects a harem of pretty girls after he opens up a merchant shop selling those goods.
- Who’s in it?
- Kenichi Hamada — Junichi Suwabe (Archer from the Fate Series). The late-thirties man (アラフォー, arafou, means “about 40”) didn’t even meet Truck-kun before landing in another world with the ability to order stuff online. He immediately befriends young demihuman girls.
- Anemone — Misaki Kuno (Faputa from Made in Abyss). The middle-aged online shopper adopted the former slave girl after finding her in the woods. She’s kindhearted and cheerful.
- Primula — Kaede Hondo (Hifumi Ajitani from Blue Archive the Animation). This wealthy merchant’s eldest daughter has a keen business mind. She sees Kenichi as a prime profit-making opportunity.
- Myarey — Miyu Tomita (Beelach from Shangri-La Frontier). The cat girl excels at archery and loves spices.
- Nyamena — Yuu Kobayashi (Lancer from Fate/strange Fake). The gyaru cat girl is Primula’s bodyguard.
- Where can I watch it? No streaming information is available yet.
Slow Life, Hot Waifu Pattern Continues in Middle-Aged Online Shopper
The premise of Middle-Aged Online Shopper is so similar to Campfire Cooking in Another World that it’s impossible to avoid comparisons. But, the clean break is the focus of each anime. Campfire Cooking was a foodie show with monster pets and barbecue bro time. Middle-Aged Online Shopper is about selling goods and collecting waifus. And all those waifus have flower names. A primrose belongs to the primula family, and an anemone is in the buttercup family. But I will need confirmation on the cat girls’ nyaa-nyaa pronunciations before I know if they also have flower names. As you can see, this anime is about collecting a bouquet of waifus.
And it’s ecchi! The best sign comes from the preview trailer and its level of bouncy boin. Remember that tool going forward because it’s the best way anime producers signal an ecchi focus for their shows. No boin, no ecchi.
But the question remains, “How much ecchi?” I hope we learn more as Middle-Aged Online Shopper’s premiere date approaches in January 2025. Are you already sold on the bouncy beast girls? Let us know in the comments below!
