The wildly popular, but Japanese-only, strategy game #COMPASS –COMbat Providence AnalysiS System is currently being adapted to anime. Details are particularly scarce at the moment. There’s no notice about the company or staff working on the anime, or even if it’ll be a series or something like an OVA. We’re only certain that it’ll be for TV, and that it’s set to premiere in 2025. Yep, they announced this two years in advance. It’s almost cruel when you think about it, especially since the trailer looks so incredible, and not just because of the waifu.
Even though the #COMPASS anime adaptation isn’t going to start their games until 2025, they have already set up a home page, and even provided two key visuals, which can be seen below. The original video game version that was released back in 2016 has its own home page and an official Twitter page, as well as a Nico Nico Video page.
Battle On, Great Heroes
Details about the anime series are non-existent right now. However, the game has been out since December 2016, and thanks to the #COMPASS wiki page, we have a good idea of what that’s about. #COMPASS is a 3v3 mobile game created by NHN PlayArt, DWANGO, and Nico Nico Douga. It’s a team-based PvP game where players on a red team and a blue team fight to capture and maintain control points known as Portal Keys, as demonstrated in the trailer above. Matches last for three minutes, and whichever team controls the most keys wins the game.
As demonstrated by the hero Jeanne d’Arc, cards can be collected and used in matches to gain various effects. This is in addition to each unit’s unique skill, which further sets characters apart, even if they are from the same class.
The confirmed characters, those that appeared in the trailer and the key visuals, are as follows:
- Jeanne d’Arc
- Fukagawa Matoi
- Kitsunegasaki Amairo
- Voidoll
- Bugdoll
- Reiya
- Ouka Tadaomi
- Gustav Heydrich
- Adam Yuriev
- 13 (Thirteen)
- Pierre the 77th
It’s unknown if any more heroes will be added to the cast, but it’s doubtful that any of the collaboration characters will appear, such as the heroine of the Fate series Saber, or the best robot waifu from NieR: Automata 2B.
If you want to give this game a chance, the wiki has a guide that explains how to download #COMPASS.
Speaking of sexy heroines with superhuman abilities, the J-List Store just so happens to have the A2 (YoRHa Model A No. 2) Figure DX Edition from NieR: Automata up for pre-order right now. It comes with different weapons and hairstyles.
